La Liga 3 best bets for the games on Saturday, December 8. Read on for our best bets for the games in La Liga this weekend including Barcelona's game against Espanyol.

Atletico Madrid vs Alaves (Saturday, 12:00 GMT)

Atletico Madrid were held to yet another draw on Sunday as they once again failed to keep pace with Barcelona at the top. A drab 1-1 draw with Girona saw the side only get on the scoresheet through Jonas Ramalho’s own goal eight minutes from time, and this stalemate saw the side secure their seventh draw of the campaign, one more game than they have won. Alaves arrive on the back of a very impressive campaign, with the outfit sitting in fourth in the league after seven wins. 18 goals scored and 14 conceded is a fairly good return, while they held Sevilla to a 1-1 draw in their last game as their impressive start to the season continued. While Atleti were guilty of drawing yet again at the weekend, they have been far better at winning games at home, securing five victories, along with just two draws in front of their own fans, which is why we are backing the home side to win against a Girona outfit that have lost four of their seven games away from home. To add more value to the bet, we recommend backing both teams to score in this one. Atleti have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last four league games, while Alaves have scored in 11 of their last 12 games this season, making a goal for both sides likely.

Valencia vs Sevilla (Saturday, 15:15 GMT)

The surprise package of last season host the surprise package of this year, with Valencia’s strife juxtaposed perfectly by Sevilla’s success. A consummate 2-0 loss to Real Madrid saw Valencia taste their third defeat of the season, and while that might sound impressive, it should be noted that the side have only won three times, drawing a massive eight games already. For Sevilla, this is a chance to stamp their title winning credentials on the league with a win over a tough Valencia side. Three wins on the road have come along with two draws and two defeats, while they have drawn their last two games, remaining unbeaten along the way. The form guide would suggest that a Sevilla win is on the cards as they currently sit in second in the table with 27 points with their great start seeing the side sitting 10 points above their hosts. However, with five draws in seven home game for Valencia, and two draws in their last two away games, we are backing the two sides to share the points in this one, which offers very good value considering the propensity of the home side to grind out draws.

Espanyol vs Barcelona (Saturday, 19:45 GMT)

Espanyol have been in great form this season, with a string of impressive results seeing the side rise up to sixth in the league, just two points behind Real Madrid in fifth. The six wins they have picked up have come along with 17 goals, while they have conceded 16 times, showing that goals are often at a premium when they play. Barcelona arrive after putting their poor run of form behind them. A 4-3 loss to Real Betis was followed by a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid, as Barca floundered, but a 2-0 win over Villarreal saw the side pick up their eighth win of the season as they moved a point clear of Sevilla at the top of the table. For us, the only winner of this one is Barcelona, but they provide little value in the match winner market. Instead, we recommend backing there to be less than 4.5 goals across the match along with an away win. Espanyol are yet to be involved in a game with more than 4.5 goals, while Barcelona have achieved the feat once on the road, making us confident on this one. Winning away from home has not come quite as easily as they once did for Barcelona, with two draws and a defeat on the road already, but we feel that backing the reigning-champions to secure back-to-back wins is the right way to go with your bet.
