Juventus v Palermo Betting Tips Explained

There is only going to be one winner when Juventus take on Palermo on Friday night. The fixture, which is being played a day early due to the home side's UEFA Champions League match with FC Porto on Wednesday but they won't need any help beating Diego Lopez's side in the Juventus Stadium. Juve have won each of their last 28 home matches in Serie A, in a run stretching back three seasons, and they are looking at their absolute strongest at the moment.

The Old Lady have won 9 of their last 10 league fixtures in Serie A and each of the last five have been won without even conceding a goal. Max Allegri's men are cruising to a sixth successive Scudetto and are doing so in the most professional manner imaginable. They have tended to score early, kill the game off and then simply stifle the opposition. In six of their last nine wins they have been 2-0 ahead by half-time and that crushes the spirits of opponents who know that they have to ride their luck to even score against the five times defending champions.

Those beaten sides who were swatted aside all have something in common - they're better than Palermo. The Islanders have won just three matches all season and only once against a side that kept all eleven players on the pitch. They've struggled all season and they'll continue to do so when they travel to Turin on Friday night against a side they haven't beaten in nine consecutive matches. The Rosanero haven't even scored a goal in any of those nine defeats and it's hard to imagine them doing so on Friday.

That means that a Juventus win to nil is a sensible bet but odds of 4/7 aren't all that appealing. The handicap line has been set at two goals but 13/10 on Juve covering that is similarly uninspiring. Combining the two bets in a Correct Score bet of 3-0 at odds of 11/2 with Paddy Power is, however, a fairly good option. Allegri's men tend not to run away with matches and instead simply close up when ahead. They did, however, win 3-0 against Bologna a few weeks ago and also beat Pescara and Empoli by that scoreline. The visitors have let in three or more goals eight times and so there is plenty of chances of that happening.

The cover bet is to take Juventus to lead at half-time and at full-time as the stats and recent history show that this is still better value than the odds of 4/7. The bet also offers a little insurance if Palermo do score a late consolation, which would probably ruin both handicaps and win to nil bets.
