Hearts v Celtic predictions for the Scottish Cup Final on Saturday, May 25. Can Celtic wrap up an historic ‘treble treble’ or will Hearts play the role of spoiler and deny the Hoops another clean sweep of domestic silverware? Read on for all of our free betting tips and predictions for the FA Cup Final.

Hearts v Celtic

Celtic lifted the Scottish Premiership trophy for an eighth consecutive year last weekend, but their 2018/19 campaign is far from over because they have one more task that could result in them writing their names in the record books. With the League Cup trophy and the Scottish Premiership silverware in the bag, the Hoops now need to win the Scottish Cup on Saturday to become the first time in the history of the domestic game to complete a clean sweep of silverware in three consecutive seasons. So can they get the job done at Hampden Park?

Providing the opposition are a club who have upset the Hoops on a few occasions in recent years. Hearts ended Celtic’s sensational unbeaten streak under Brendan Rodgers when they walloped the green-and-white half of Glasgow 4-0 back in December 2017, and they were at it again back in early August when Kyle Lafferty shot down Rodgers’ side just days before departing Tynecastle for boyhood club Rangers. So as you can see, the Jambos are no strangers to upsetting Celtic, but the problem is that early-season their record against the champions has been, quite frankly, poor.

Celtic have won four straight meetings between the two clubs and a couple of them have been via very convincing scorelines – a 3-0 success in the nation’s capital back in October was followed up by a 5-0 demolition of Craig Levein’s side in early November. Hearts kept it much closer when the two teams went head-to-head on the final day of the league campaign, but very little can be read into that 2-1 victory for the Hoops because both teams left out key men for what was essentially a ‘dead rubber’ at Celtic Park.

Interim Celtic boss Neil Lennon made no less than seven changes to the team that were beaten by Rangers a week earlier, but those men who were left out will be back for the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden Park and therefore it is very difficult to look past the Hoops for this clash. However, I am not convinced that we will see a repeat of that 5-0 success back in November. While Celtic’s form has been pretty solid since Lennon returned in the wake of Rodgers’ departure for Leicester City, they have not been blowing teams away and they have not been a particularly potent attacking force. They have, however, been finding a way to get the job done and I expect to see more of the same here.

My second selection is to back James Forrest to find the back of the net at some point in the Scottish Cup Final. The Scotland international has enjoyed a career-best season in front of goal, netting 17 goals in all competitions, and a good amount of his success has come against Hearts. Forrest was on target as Celtic blitzed Hearts in the second half of their League Cup semi-final tie last October and he got himself on the scoresheet again a few weeks later when the Hoops decimated the Jambos 5-0 at Celtic Park. The 27-year-old then completed a hat-trick of goals against Hearts this season by scoring Celtic’s opener in the 2-1 win at Tynecastle back in February, and it is this track record against the Edinburgh outfit that makes Forrest a very tempting anytime goalscorer selection.
