Germany v Chile Betting Tips Explained

It is quite fitting that the two highest-ranked nations at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup will contest the final on Sunday.

The Group B meeting resulted in a 1-1 draw and we can expect another very closely fought encounter in Saint Petersburg, where the identity of the sixth different winner of the quadrennial event will be determined.

Both countries boast impressive records of having lost just one of their last 17 matches after 90 minutes in major tournaments and, on current form, you could see those runs being extended here.

Germany, who are now unbeaten in 14, ran riot against Mexico in the semi-finals, with two Leon Goretzka goals inside the opening eight minutes doing the damage before Timo Werner and Amin Younes completed the rout.

Despite this being the first major tournament for the majority of Joachim Low’s new-look squad, they have certainly not looked out of place and been good value for reaching the final.

However, another tough test against the Chileans, who have the quality to cause real problems in the shape of Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal, will really show us just how far they have come.

Sanchez was on target in the group meeting as he became his country’s all-time leading scorer outright, and you would put good money on the Arsenal forward rising to the big occasion by finding the net once again here.

He was on target from the spot as La Roja overcame Portugal on penalties in the semis, with Claudio Bravo producing heroics from saving all three kicks he faced.

Appearing in a major final for the third consecutive year, Juan Antonio Pizzi’s men will fancy their chances of lifting more silverware on Sunday.

Overall, it is a really tough one to call with nothing to really separate the two nations, so it may be worth a punt on a score draw after normal time and then it will be a complete lottery as to who will lift the trophy at the Krestovsky Stadium.
