Fulham v Tottenham Hotspur Betting Tips Explained

With only two wins in their last six competitive games, Tottenham Hotspur have seen their domestic and European campaigns suffer setbacks over the past few weeks. A goalless draw at Sunderland and a 2-0 defeat at Liverpool have resulted in them losing ground on Chelsea in the Premier League title race, while in the Europa League they will have to overturn a one-goal deficit in the second leg of their last-32 clash with Belgian side Gent following a 1-0 defeat in midweek.

They almost suffered an embarrassing home defeat when they hosted League Two side Wycombe Wanderers in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Wycombe held a two-goal lead at half-time and went 3-2 up with seven minutes to go at White Hart Lane, but Delle Alli hauled Spurs level a minute from time and Son Heung-Min then snatched victory for the Premier League side when he scored seven minutes into added time. So will they make much more straightforward work of this trip to Fulham?

The Cottagers are through to the last-16 after they humiliated Premier League strugglers Hull City in the last round. Slavia Jokanovic’s side stormed to a 4-1 win at Craven Cottage and they will fancy their chances of spring a major upset here because their home has been strong over the past few months. However, I expect Spurs to bounce back from their recent disappointments to progress in the cup. They will not be taking Fulham lightly and I believe we will see a professional display from Mauricio Pochettino’s side that sees them through to the quarter-finals.

Do not be shocked to see Fulham get on the scoresheet though. Spurs may have the best defensive record in the Premier League right now, but Fulham have been rattling in the goals over the past few months and they have found the back of the net 12 times in their last four home games. They can get on the scoresheet on Sunday but it will not be enough times for them to get a result against their visitors from the Premier League.

And if you are looking to place a goalscorer bet on this FA Cup tie, I recommend backing Son Heung-Min to help himself to a goal and continue his purple patch in this competition. The Korean striker followed up his goal in the third round against Aston Villa with a brace against Wycombe Wanderers in round four, and having seen him start from the bench in midweek I expect Son to return to the starting XI on Sunday. He can repay his manager by playing a goal-scoring role in a Tottenham win.
