Everton v West Bromwich Albion Betting Tips Explained

Everton’s push for a top-five finish suffered a setback with the 3-2 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur a week ago. Ronald Koeman’s side did not get going until the last 15 minutes and they paid the price as Spurs held out for all three points. That result has left the Toffees six points off the top five heading into this weekend, but Everton are by no means out of the race and they should not be pressing the panic button because this is a team in good form right now.

Everton have now lost just one of their last 10 games in the Premier League and their recent home form has been very strong with four straight victories in 2017. Southampton, Manchester City, Bournemouth and Sunderland have all been dispatched as the goals have flowed for Koeman’s side, so they will be confident of bouncing back when they entertain West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

The Baggies will head to Goodison Park with a degree of confidence though. Last week’s home defeat to Crystal Palace was a bit of a shocker, but Tony Pulis’ side are in decent form having gone five games unbeaten prior to that loss. The problem is their away form leaves a lot to be desired. West Brom have won just one of their last seven games away from The Hawthorns and that does not bode well for a trip to Goodison, where Everton have lost just once in the league this season.

I have to go with Everton to get back on track with a victory here. They have won four straight games at home, scoring a combined 15 goals and keeping three clean sheets, and that is a run of form that cannot be ignored. Yes they underwhelmed at White Hart Lane last time out, but they are back on home turf this weekend and they should keep the pressure on those teams above them in the race for European football.

And, unsurprisingly, I am backing Romelu Lukaku to play a goal-scoring role in an Everton victory. The Belgian striker has been in blistering form in 2017, scoring nine goals in nine games in all competitions, and he goes into this match having netted six times in his last four outings. On his day Lukaku is simply unplayable and on Saturday he will have an opportunity to set a new personal best for goals in a single Premier League season. Lukaku has 18 right now, he can make it 19 on Saturday.
