England odds-on to beat Switzerland despite Nations League loss to Spain

Ben Darvill 9 Sep 2018

England odds-on to beat Switzerland despite Nations League loss to Spain.

England fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Spain at the weekend as they marked the first game since their World Cup campaign with a defeat to the Spanish. Marcus Rashford had fired home early-on in the game, but Saul Niguez equalised two minutes later. The Spanish then went in front through Rodrigo in the 32nd minute, and that is where the scoring stopped.

Danny Welbeck did fire home in extra time, but he was judged to have fouled David de Gea in the build-up to the goal, with the goalkeeper fortunate to see the referee side with him. The loss was a disappointing one for England, but they must now pick themselves up for their friendly against Switzerland on Tuesday.

Gareth Southgate’s men are currently 5/7 with Unibet to win the match, while the Swiss are 19/4, with a draw 11/4. England did look good in bursts throughout their loss to Spain, and they face a game in which they will see more of the ball and get more chances.

Can the Three Lions claim their first win post-World Cup?
