The 2019 Copa America continues on Friday night and we have looked over the fixtures to pick out our favourite bet from South America’s premier international football tournament.

Today’s Best Copa America Bet: Friday, June 28

Leigh Copson: Back Colombia to beat Chile @ 21/20 William Hill

Colombia marched into the knockout stage thanks to a perfect performance in the group phase of the Copa America. They made Argentina pay for not turning possession into goals as they struck twice in the final 20 minutes to snatch a 2-0 victory on opening night, and they then booked a place in the quarter-finals with a game to spare when they battled past a stubborn Qatar side. That left coach Carlos Queiroz with the luxury of being able to rest his star names for the final group game and although he took advantage of that, his fringe players completed a perfect group campaign with a 1-0 win over Paraguay. The stars will now return to the starting XI for the quarter-final clash with Chile, but can they inspire their national team into the final four?

Chile advanced to the knockout phase of the competition despite a slender defeat at the hands of Uruguay in their final group game. Wins over Japan and Ecuador did the job for them and it was a positive few games for the Chileans as they saw Alexis Sanchez put behind him some dismal form for club side Manchester United by playing a starring role in his side’s two victories. But can Sanchez & Co. now bounce back from that loss to the Uruguayans or will the quarter-finals be as far as they go in the 2019 Copa America?

History suggests this will be a close game because these two nations have had a hard time getting the better of each other in recent years. Their last five meetings have produced one win apiece and one draw, but I am more concerned with the recent form of these two national teams and it is Colombia who look to be in better shape right now having won eight of their last nine international fixtures. Chile, on the other hand, have only won eight games in the past 20 months and they were edged out by the Uruguayans last time out, so for me the Colombians are the team to back here.
