Chelsea v Sunderland Betting Tips Explained

The final day of the Premier League season will see the top club face the bottom one, and it will be business as usual for both sides when champions Chelsea entertain rock-bottom Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on Sunderland afternoon.

Chelsea’s march towards the Premier League title was nothing short of relentless. A 3-0 defeat at Arsenal in late September had many wondering just how big of a job Antonio Conte had ahead of him as Blues manager, but they bounced back a week later with a 2-0 win at Hull City and that result was the start of an outstanding run that wrapped up the title. Conte’s boys have won 26 of their last 31 Premier League outings – a phenomenal run – and they will look to make it 27 in 32 when they bring the curtain down on their league campaign this Sunday.

Providing the opposition are a Sunderland side that have endured a truly miserable season from start to finish. The Black Cats managed to fend off relegation last season but there was always a sense that sooner or later they would fail to maintain their top-flight status, and that has proved to be the case this season. David Moyes has been unable to transform the club’s fortunes last summer and no matter what happens on Sunday they will head into the second tier as the worst team in this season’s Premier League.

But could they bow out with a morale-boosting win over the champions? My answer is a definitive no. Conte made a raft of changes to his starting XI for the 4-3 midweek win over Watford, but he is likely to name a much stronger side this time around as he looks to keep his key players sharp for next weekend’s FA Cup Final clash with Arsenal, and that should result in a comfortable victory for a Blues side that have won five of their last eight games by two goals or more.

And speaking of winning by two goals, if you are a fan of Correct Score betting then Chelsea to win 2-0 looks to be a solid bet for Sunday’s encounter at Stamford Bridge. After all, Sunderland have scored in just two of their last eight away games in the Premier League and they have scored in just two of their away games against top-seven sides. Four of their last seven away defeats have been by a 2-0 scoreline too, and once Chelsea get a couple of goals to the good they are likely to take their foot off the gas and start preserving themselves for that cup final appearance. 2-0 looks like a very likely scoreline here.
