Burnley v Lincoln City Betting Tips Explained

Lincoln City supporters have not had much to cheer since their side exited the Football League in 2011, but the 2016/17 campaign looks like it will be the season in which the Imps turn around their fortunes. Not only are they sitting at the top of the National League at this time, they have also enjoyed a sensational run in the FA Cup that has seen them beat Championship sides Ipswich Town and Brighton & Hove Albion en route to the last-16.

Manager Danny Cowley – a P.E. teacher just eight months ago – has been the mastermind behind the transformation in Lincoln’s fortunes this season, but he faces the toughest test in his managerial career this Saturday as he tries to figure out a way to dump a Premier League side out of the FA Cup.

A trip to Burnley is the reward for Lincoln’s heroics and the size of their challenge has only been highlighted by the Clarets’ result at the weekend. Sean Dyche’s side held runaway Premier League leaders Chelsea to a 1-1 draw and they have been excellent at Turf Moor this season, winning nine of their 14 home games in the Premier League. Liverpool have lost their. Everton have drawn there. So can Lincoln do what those two Merseyside giants failed to do and win? My answer is no.

Lincoln’s run has been nothing short of spectacular and it is one their fans will never forget, but sooner or later they will be issued a reality check and Burnley are just the side to do it. Dyche will show nothing but respect to the Imps and he will have a strong starting XI well-drilled for this meeting with the non-league side. The Clarets will not be allowed to take their opponents likely and that should result in a professional victory and a clean sheet for the Premier League outfit.

Andre Gray can play his part for Burnley by getting back mong the goals. The Clarets striker was on target in the 2-0 win over Sunderland in the previous round, but since then he has managed just one goal in his last five appearances for the Lancashire outfit. However, this Lincoln defence will struggle to cope with him at lunchtime on Saturday and Gray should end his goal drought by finding the back of the net in this fifth-round tie.
