The 2017-18 Bundesliga season has reached its 20th round of matches on the weekend of January 26-28 and we have picked out the best bet available on each of Sunday’s two games.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Mainz – Over 3.5 goals @ 4/3 with Unibet (14:30 GMT kick-off)

Mainz have an excellent recent record against Bayer Leverkusen having won three of the last four meetings, including 2-0 at the BayArena last season, and on that basis it was tempting to back them to avoid defeat again here.

But when you consider where these clubs are in the Bundesliga table it is stretching credibility somewhat to think Bayer will slip up – they have gone second behind Bayern Munich on the strength of their goal difference, whereas Mainz have only three clubs behind them.

Moreover, the visitors have yet to win away from home this season, which leads us to backing a goalfest because these are two teams whose recent matches have been high-scoring.

Both Bayer Leverkusen and Mainz’s last four league and cup games have contained a total of 18 goals and so if that average continues, we will be as safe as houses with this bet.

Hannover vs Wolfsburg – Draw @ 49/20 with BetStars (17:00 GMT kick-off)

Three of the last four league meetings between these clubs have finished all-square and we think it will be honours even again this time.

Although Wolfsburg are again looking nothing like the Kevin de Bruyne-inspired team that finished second to Bayern Munich three seasons ago, they are keeping things tight away from home this term and that will give them a chance on their trip to Hannover.

Only Bayern and Eintracht Frankfurt have conceded fewer goals on the road than the Wolves and that will be important against a Hannover side who have scored a total of seven times in their last two home games.

The problem for Hannover is that one of those games finished 4-4 and the other 3-2, so they let in their fair share as well, and with Wolfsburg having remarkably drawn 12 of their 22 league and cup matches this season backing them to claim one more point here appeals greatly.
