Brighton & Hove Albion v Tottenham Hotspur Betting Tips Explained

Tottenham Hotspur’s 14-match unbeaten run in the Premier League was brought to a halt this past weekend – but losing to runaway leaders Manchester City was hardly a shameful result, even if the 3-1 defeat did come at their temporary Wembley Stadium home. Spurs remain in firm command of a top-four berth and a couple more wins between now and the end of the season should see them wrap up a place in next season’s Champions League. So will they move a step closer on Tuesday night?

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are heading to the South Coast to face a Brighton & Hove Albion side that have so far defied pre-season predictions that they will be one of the teams propping up the Premier League table come the end of the season. The Seagulls have not secured top-flight football for another season just yet, but there are now four places and seven points between themselves and the bottom three, with just five games to go, so they have a fantastic chance of ensuring they are not one-hit wonders in the Premier League.

A big reason for their success so far has been a very strong home record. While it may not be up there with the best teams in the league, Brighton have managed to take at least a point in 13 of the 17 Premier League matches they have played at the Amex Stadium and that is a fine record for a team that is playing in the top-flight for the first time in the Premier League era. They recently beat Arsenal 2-1 here, but their record against the rest of the top-six does not make for good reading and that is why I am confident that Tottenham – one of the best travellers in the top flight – will leave the Amex Stadium with all three points.

Brighton have lost at home to Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea already this season and those three defeats combine for an 11-1 scoreline. On top of that, they have failed to score in 11 of the 14 losses they have suffered in the league so everything is pointing to Tottenham leaving with the spoils and everything is pointing to Pochettino’s men notching their first clean sheet since the 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town a month ago.

I also recommend backing Christian Eriksen to continue his fantastic recent form in front of goal. Harry Kane will always be a tempting pick in the goalscorer market for Tottenham games – especially when he is appealing to rob team-mates of their goals – but when it comes to the Spurs ranks at the minute it is Eriksen who is the man to stop. The Danish midfielder has now scored in each of his last four appearances, netting five times in all, and his tally would have been six goals in four games had Kane not won his goal appeal. Eriksen is now just one goal away from a personal best season in the top flight, and I would not be surprised if he got that goal at the Amex Stadium.
