Brighton & Hove Albion v Everton Betting Tips Explained

A summer of hope has turned into a season of frustration for Everton fans, who have seen their side limp out of the blocks despite some big spending this summer. The Toffees may have lost Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, but the arrival of the likes of Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Wayne Rooney were supposed to lessen the blow and usher in the start of an exciting new era for the Merseyside giants – that has not happened.

Everton made a solid enough start by taking four points from their first two games, but they have now lost four of their last five Premier League games – winning just once – while following up a convincing defeat in Atalanta with an underwhelming hope draw against Apollon Limassol in the Europa League.

In fairness to the Toffees, they could not have asked for a much tougher run of fixtures during late August-early September – they faced Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United – but that 1-0 home defeat to Burnley has alarm bells ringing and it has resulted in manager Ronald Koeman’s sack odds coming all the way in to 4/7 at Ladbrokes.

“Expectations were high on Merseyside this summer,” a Ladbrokes spokesperson told us last month. “But with both clubs [Everton & Liverpool] struggling to mount serious domestic challenges, we wouldn't be surprised to see [Jurgen] Klopp AND Koeman pay the price between now and the end of the campaign.”

Koeman desperately needs a win on Saturday to ease some of the mounting pressure, but will he get it when Everton visit Brighton & Hove Albion?

Brighton have made a decent start to life in the top tier. The newly-promoted Seagulls lost their first two outings but enjoyed an upturn in fortunes between late August and late September as they picked up seven points in a four-game spell, following up a goalless draw at Watford with home wins over West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle United. They were soundly beaten at Arsenal last time out, but their recent home form has been good and I fancy them to take a point from this meeting with an Everton side that has taken one point and scored just one goal on their travels in the Premier League this season.

And speaking of goals, Under 2.5 Total Goals screams 'banker' here. As I have already said, the Toffees have managed only one goal on their travels in the Premier League this season and Brighton have not been particularly prolific either despite their decent form as of late. The Seagulls have managed to score only five goals in seven games since their promotion to the top flight so this has all the makings of being a low-scoring affair at the Amex Stadium.
