Bournemouth v Swansea City Betting Tips Explained

Bournemouth finally brought an end to their eight-match winless run in the Premier League last weekend. Joshua King rattled in a hat-trick as the Cherries followed up the hard-earned draw at Manchester United with a 3-2 victory over West Ham United last time, and that has put Eddie Howe’s side six points clear of the relegation zone heading into this weekend’s games.

“Naturally, when you are not winning, the mood is not as positive and vibrant as when you are,” Howe told the Daily Echo this week. “I think that is human nature. The players have done well to keep their emotions in control. They know the only way we can achieve what we want is to work harder on the training pitch and that’s what we have tried to do. We look at every game as a way to pick up points. But we know the importance of some games that will define our season.”

Once of those defining games comes on Saturday when they face fellow strugglers Swansea City. The Swans are two places and just three points behind Bournemouth following a decent run of form under new manager Paul Clement.

The former Derby County boss has led his team to four wins in their last six games to give their fight against relegation a serious shot in the arm, but their away form continues to be their Achilles heel. Swansea did manage a shock win at Liverpool early in Clement’s reign, but since then it has been all downhill with three straight defeats. There is no shame in losing at Manchester City and Chelsea, but they were beaten at Hull City last weekend and their away form has been miserable this season with 10 defeats coming in their 14 matches away from the Liberty Stadium.

That dire run is a big reason why I am backing Bournemouth’s recent improvement to continue with a big win here. Bournemouth will have taken great confidence from that battling win over West Ham and they should be able to make the most of Swansea’s travel sickness to keep their momentum going.

I also expect to see a few goals at the Vitality Stadium because neither defence looks capable of keeping a clean sheet without putting 10 men and the team bus behind the ball. Swansea have the worst defence in the Premier League, having conceded 61 times, while Bournemouth are not much better with their 54 goals conceded the second worst record in the top flight. This game has goals written all over it and we should see at least three on Saturday evening.
