Borussia Dortmund v Werder Bremen Betting Tips Explained

Borussia Dortmund certainly made life a little interesting for themselves on the final day of the season when they were held to a 1-1 draw at Augsburg a week ago. Thomas Tuchel’s side had leapfrogged Hoffenheim into third place when they beat Julian Nagelsmann’s side a fortnight ago, but instead of taking a massive step towards the group stage of the Champions League they dropped two points last time out and that allowed Hoffenheim to join them on 61 points with one game to go.

That means only goal difference is keeping Dortmund ahead of Hoffenheim at this time and while finishing fourth would not be a complete disaster for Dortmund, it would leave them having to face the qualifying stages of next season’s Champions League. Finishing third will ensure they go straight into the group stage and to make that happen they must better or at least match Hoffenheim’s result on the final day of the season.

Hoffenheim are expected to pick up all three points when they entertain an Augsburg side that could still be relegated on the final day of the season, while Dortmund are take on a Werder Bremen side that could still qualify for the Europa League if they leave Signal Iduna Park with all three points. That means Tuchel’s boys have the tougher test on the final day, but they are on their home turf and they have not lost a league game in front of the home fans this season, winning 12 and drawing four.

Win number 13 should come against Werder Bremen, but they are going to need to score a couple of goals to claim all three points. Dortmund have only conceded nine goals at home in the league this season, but Werder Bremen are a side more than capable of finding a way through this defence. Only four teams have scored more goals than them in the Bundesliha this season and only two have scored more times away from home. The visitors can find the net, but they will not avoid defeat.

And if you are looking to back a goalscorer you should look no further than Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Dortmund striker has rattled in 29 goals in the Bundesliga to give himself a shot at winning the Golden Boot this season, and he goes into this match in devastating form having scored 16 goals in his last 16 competitive appearances for his club. There is no reason why Aubameyang cannot keep his red-hot run going by netting the opener on Saturday afternoon.
