Ligue 1 predictions, betting tips & match previews - Best bets for Sunday's games in Ligue 1

There’s another round of intriguing fixtures set to take place in France this weekend and we bring you our best bets for Sunday's Ligue 1 matches.

Amiens v Lyon (14:00 GMT)

Amiens take on Lyon in Stade de la Licorne this weekend and we're anticipating goals in this one. Les Gones come into this game in particularly fine form in front of goal away from home, having racked up no fewer than 22 goals in their last six matches on the road and although they have at times missed Alexandre Lacazette following his summer move to Arsenal, the likes of Nabil Fekir and Mariano Diaz have been a thorn in the side of French defences all season long.

But in the shape of Amiens, Bruno Genesio's men face another side who prefer to play on the front foot and who could cause them problems on the breakaway. Les Licornes have tried not to abandon the attacking principles that saw them win promotion from Ligue 2 last term and in their last nine games in all competitions, they've only failed to find the net on once occasions. The visitors are favourites for a reason, but we think the value lies in the goal markets for this clash.

Nantes v Nice (16:00 GMT)

Nantes have been one of the surprisingly stronger sides in the French top tier this season under the guidance of former Premier League winner Claudio Ranieri. Although the Italian's incredible achievement with Leicester City is unlikely to be repeated at La Beaujoire-Louis Fonteneau, his side are still within touching distance of the Champions League spots and they're favourites for three points this weekend as they welcome Europa League contesants OGC Nice to Pays de la Loire.

After back-to-back wins over strugglers Toulouse and Metz, Nice can make the trip west with a bit more confidence, but they're struggling in the lower reaches of the division and a taxing trip to Vitesse in the Europa League in midweek will have dented their fitness also. The visitors will cause problems going forward through the prolific Mario Balotelli, but we're still anticipating the hosts to take the victory. The result and both teams to score market is worth a check here.

Marseille v St Etienne (20:00 GMT)

Marseille are looking to continue their stronger form this weekend as avoiding defeat in this home fixture against St Etienne would extend their unbeaten league run to an impressive 12 consecutive matches. Confidence appears to be flowing at the Stade Velodrome at the moment and they provide plenty of attacking impetus through players like Lucas Ocampos, Dimitri Payet and the in-form Clinton Njie, who has found the net five times in nine league appearances so far this season.

L'OM could not have asked for a better time to face St Etienne than this weekend. Les Verts make the trip south having not won a single game in their last eight matches in all competitions in a run that has included defeats against Bordeaux, Lille and a spirit-crushing 5-0 mauling from arch rivals Lyon. We're backing Les Phoceens to take advantage of this reeling ASSE outfit and rack up the goals in a comfortable home win here.
