Juventus face a 'must-win' trip to Bari on Saturday evening

Juventus got their Serie A title challenge back on track with a much-needed two-one win over league leaders Inter Milan, then promptly followed it up with a horrendous four-one defeat to Bayern Munich, which saw them knocked out of the Champions League. This means that nothing but a win (18/19, Expekt) over Bari on Saturday will do, as the club begin a fight to save their season from falling apart in the key Christmas period.

If Juventus beat Bari on Saturday night, then they move to within two points of Inter at the top of Serie A, and that should be enough incentive for Ciro Ferrara’s side to pick up all three points, although they would have hoped for an easier opponent than Bari (17/5, Expekt) who have been impressive in their first season back in Serie A, following a spell in Serie B.

Bari have already drawn with Milan, Inter and Sampdoria this season, and are quite tempting at 7/2 (StanJames) to record another draw on Saturday, although Juventus’ strike-force of David Trezeguet (5/1, Bet365) and Carvalha Amauri (5/1, SkyBet) will pose a tough test for a team which has only conceded three goals in seven home matches all season.

Bari are a fairly low scoring side, and apart from a four-one over Atalanta, in September, they average just under a goal a game. Their solid defence, as previously mentioned, doesn’t often concede, and under 2.5 goals (7/10, Expekt) is usually a good bet for a Bari home fixture. They play tight, and don’t give the opposition any space, although Juventus have players, such as Diego (8/1, SkyBet) and Alessandro Del Piero (6/1, SkyBet) who can create a chance out of nothing, and it could be up to one of them to give their side victory on Saturday.

A one-nil Juventus victory (6/1, Coral) would satisfy Juve manager Ferrara, and looks like the game’s most likely outcome. His side may, however, be made to sweat for their victory, and the 4/1 (Bet365) that the game is level at half-time, before an eventual Juventus win, looks like a bet worth taking.
