The 2019 Copa America continues with the third-place play-off taking place on Saturday night, and we have picked out our favourite bet for the clash between Argentina and Chile.

Leigh Copson: Back Argentina v Chile to end in a draw @ 5/2 Coral

It is the match no team wants to play in but before Argentina and Chile can head home from the Copa America that must play one more match on Saturday night – the third-place play-off.

Argentina bowed out of the competition with a semi-final defeat to rivals Brazil in midweek, and to say there has been major fall-out from that match would be an understatement. Lionel Messi did not hold back in his criticism of the officiating, describing it with the use of obscenities, and now the Argentinian FA has taken the matter even further by complaining to the South American football authorities in a six-page later! So the question is, just how serious are they going to take this match?

And speaking of taking matches seriously, Chile paid the price for not taking Peru seriously on Wednesday night. They were widely expected to march into the final to face Brazil this weekend, but instead they crashed to a miserable 3-0 defeat, ending their bid to win this tournament for the third straight time, and afterwards coach Reinaldo Rueda conceded his side had “mentally wanted to play the final without dealing with this step”. It was an honest assessment from him in the wake of a very disappointing defeat, but can Chile now lift themselves to at least sign off on a positive note?

This is a tough one to call. There is the real possibility that neither side will be too motivated by this fixture, and both have shown positives and negatives throughout the campaign. Argentina have largely underwhelmed by winning only two of their five fixtures, while Chile have suddenly hit a wall, failing to score in each of their last three matches after rattling in six across their first two games.

It would not be completely wrong to think that Argentina could be fuelled by their sense of injustice or that Chile could be motivated to at least put in a good performance in response to their poor semi-final showing, but the reality is that winning this match is not going to exorcise the demons from their respective semi-final exits.

Therefore I would not be surprised to see this turn out to be a drab stalemate between two sides who would rather be on the plane home than play this match. And just to back that up with a bit of history, these two teams met in each of the last two Copa America Finals and on both occasions the result after 90 minutes was 0-0!
