Will ex-Strictly star James Jordan skate off with Dancing On Ice title? Bookies weigh in!

Every celebrity has now taken to the ice and the bookmakers remain confident that former Strictly Come Dancing star James Jordan will win the 2019 series of Dancing On Ice.

As was the case last year, DOI bosses staged the first round over two live broadcasts and it was former Neighbours star Mark Little who became the first celebrity to exit the show, controversially losing a dance-off with former cricketer Ryan Sidebottom.

Ryan remains a leading contender to be the second celebrity to depart the show this weekend, along with the likes of Grease star Didi Conn and television presenter Saira Khan, while at the other end of the betting the bookies are predicting a hotly-contested race for the title between two of the male celebrities.

Ex-Strictly professional dancer James remains the favourite at 7/4 with Ladbrokes, but former Love Island contestant Wes Nelson is hot on his heels at 5/2 ahead of Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton at 6/1 and boyband member-turned television presenter Brian McFadden at 8/1.

But could James’ previous professional dance experience damage his chances of winning the show like it harmed Ashley Roberts’ attempts to win Strictly Come Dancing last year?
He has already found himself having to defend himself against claims that he has an unfair advantage.

“It's completely unfair to say that having me on the show makes it a fix,” he told The Sun.

“What people don't realise is that the way you move your body on ice is completely different to how you move it as a dancer. If I positioned my feet the way I dance in the same way on skates, I would fall on my face.

“So I’ve had to re-learn everything. Yes, I have improved since I started training but so have all the other contestants. And what I’ve learned is that ice skating is really, really difficult.”
