Perfection for Faye Tozer but bookies still backing Stacey Dooley for Strictly Come Dancing crown

Faye Tozer may have topped the Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard once again on Saturday night, but the bookmakers are still backing Stacey Dooley to waltz off with the Glitterball Trophy at the end of the 2018 series.

Faye and professional partner Giovanni Pernice recorded a perfect score of 40 for their Charleston to ‘The Sound of Music’, but following the show judges were accused of over-marking the former Steps star and some fans took to social media to claim her previous dance experience is ‘unfair’ on the rest of the Strictly hopefuls.

So despite her perfect score, Faye has actually drifted in the Ladbrokes Winner market in the wake of the show, going from 8/1 to 10/1 to be crowned Strictly Come Dancing champion for 2018.

While Faye has drifted, Stacey Dooley has gone from strength to strength and the documentary film-maker is now into 4/5, from Even-money, after scoring 38 this past weekend – her best score yet for an individual routine.

Former favourite Joe Sugg has lost some ground, falling to 5/2, while there has been some big movement behind him with the bookmakers slashing the odds on Paralympic swimmer Lauren Steadman from 16/1 to 8/1 despite her finishing joint bottom of the leaderboard this past weekend.

Now it is the turn of Ashley Roberts to prop up the betting, with the ex-Pussycat Doll now all the way out at 20/1 despite a string of impressive scores that have seen here score less than 38 or more in five of her last six dances.

Ashley has failed to earn the backing of the general public despite her high scores, with many feeling her previous dance experience, like Faye’s, has not been fair on her fellow celebrities.

Latest Ladbrokes Odds

Strictly Come Dancing Winner: 4/5 Stacey Dooley, 5/2 Joe Sugg, 8/1 Lauren Steadman, 10/1 Faye Tozer, 20/1 Ashley Roberts.
