Star Wars: The Force Awakens slashed to 6/4 to be biggest movie of all time

William Hill punters are backing Star Wars: The Force Awakens to be a sure fire hit with fans and critics alike backing the film to outdo Avatar at the Box Office and to bag an Oscar.

The most popular of all the Star Wars specials currently offered by William Hill is for the $2.78b worldwide Box Office tally of Avatar to be broken by The Force Awakens with the odds for that particular outcome having been slashed from 12/5 to 6/4 in the space of a month.

The worst result for the bookies is for the movie to pick up Best Picture at the Oscars. Offered at a relatively unlikely 66/1, should the film scoop the Academy Award it could cost bookies a five figure sum.

William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly told Bettingpro.com:

“In a year of huge blockbuster movies, The Force Awakens is being backed to be the biggest and there is every chance it could smash the huge Box Office total of Avatar.”

Latest William Hill odds:

Star Wars: The Force Awakens to…

Achieve a higher worldwide Box Office gross than Avatar ($2.78b): 1/2 less; 6/4 more

Achieve a higher worldwide Box Office gross than Jurassic World ($1.66b): 3/1 less; 1/5 more

Win Best Picture at the Oscars: 66/1

Be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars: 5/1

Win worst picture at the Razzie Awards: 20/1
