Rami Malek slashed 2/1 to become James Bond villain

Rami Malek received the biggest prize any actor could claim for his portrayal of music icon Freddie Mercury, but could he now cross over to another iconic franchise by taking on James Bond?

Malek picked up the Best Actor award at the 2019 Oscars after receiving great praise for his portrayal or legendary Queen frontman Mercury, and all eyes will be on what he does next as his stock continues to store.

The 37-year-old, who got his big break playing a computer hacker on television series ‘Mr Robot’, will certainly have no shortage of offers and bookmaker Ladbrokes believes one of those could come from one of the biggest franchises in cinema today.

While Malek is seemingly not in contention to become the next James Bond when Daniel Craig hands in his licence to kill, the Bohemian Rhapsody star is now just 2/1 to play the role of 007’s antagonist in the first film without Craig.

“Rami Malek’s stock continues to rise and the latest odds suggest Bond chiefs now want in,” Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati told Bettingpro.com.

But who will he be standing opposite him in the legendary role of James Bond?

Tom Hiddleston is still the 3/1 favourite to become the latest man to play 007 on the big screen, with James Norton and Richard Madden hot on his heels at 4/1 ahead of 5/1 shots Idris Elba, Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy.

Latest Ladbrokes Odds

2/1 Rami Malek to be a James Bond villain in the first film without Daniel Craig

Next James Bond: 3/1 Tom Hiddleston, 4/1 James Norton, 4/1 Richard Madden, 5/1 Idris Elba, 5/1 Cillian Murphy, 5/1 Tom Hardy.
