Punters believe in extra-terrestials

Ladbrokes have slashed the price about extra-terrestrial life being found, following comments by Britain’s leading astronomer.

Lord Rees said that new technological advances make it possible to study tiny planets that have ‘earth-like’ atmospheres, saying:

"Technology has advanced so that for the very first time we can actually have the realistic hope of detecting planets no bigger than the earth orbiting other stars," he said.

"(We'll be able to learn) whether they have continents and oceans, learning what type of atmosphere they have.”

But, despite Lord Rees claims that the chance of such a discovery is greater than ever, the firm go 1,000/1 (from 5,000/1) about the eventuality.

Ladbrokes spokesman, Nick Weinberg told bettingpro:

“We always see a surge in bets whenever the prospect of alien life is discussed. But 1,000/1 is still a long shot.”
