The odds on Henry Cavill swapping Superman’s cape for James Bond’s licence to kill have been slashed today, bookmaker Ladbrokes has revealed.
Reports on Wednesday claimed that Cavill had quit playing Superman after failing to agree terms for a cameo appearance in the upcoming ‘Shazam’ movie.
Now the bookmakers are also wondering if Cavill could hand in the famous red cape and pick up the ‘licence to kill’ when Daniel Craig ends his run as 007, with
Ladbrokes slashing the odds on the English actor becoming the next James Bond from 14/1 to just 8/1.
“Reports suggesting Cavill will leave Warner Bros. have left us with no choice but to slash odds on him playing another of Hollywood’s biggest names,” Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati told Bettingpro.com.
While Cavill’s odds have shortened there are several men still ahead of him in the race to take on the role of playing the world’s most famous spy.
Tom Hardy remains the bookies’ pick at 2/1, with Idris Elba considered a real contender at 4/1 following recent claims that franchise bosses are interested in hiring their first ‘Black Bond’.
Former bookmakers’ favourite James Norton is now an 11/2 shot for the role, with the likes of Jack Huston and Tom Hiddleston joining Superman star Cavill on 8/1 at this time.
