Dr Who Christmas Special - will Dr Who win the Christmas Day TV ratings war?

Will Dr Who win the Christmas Day TV ratings war?

SkyBet have reported a string of bets on the Doctor Who Christmas Special to be the most watched television program this Christmas Day, and have, therefore, cut the show’s odds from 7/4 to 4/6 to win the ratings battle, ahead of Eastenders, which has been eased from 8/11 to 11/8 with the firm.

The popular sci-fi serious, which this year is set to feature David Tennant for the last time, was beaten last year by surprise ratings puller Wallace & Gromit – A Matter of Loaf and Death, and SkyBet clearly believe that this year there will be no repeat surprises.

Helen Jacobs of Skybet told Bettingpro this afternoon:

"Doctor Who came second in the ratings battle form the same slot last year and punters obviously believe the perennial Christmas day favourite it can go one better this year and beat Easties to pulling in most viewers. Doctor Who is the only one they want to back."

The Royle Family is next in-line at 7/1, whilst Coronation Street is a rank outsider at 25/1.
