Strictly star to shine on ice? Bookies forced to trim odds on James Jordan winning Dancing On Ice

James Jordan has been accused of having an unfair advantage over the rest of his Dancing On Ice rivals, but that has not stopped punters from backing the former Strictly Come Dancing star with a flurry of bets this week.

James has been a leading contender to win the series since the line-up was announced, but after seeing Ashley Roberts’ previous dance experience come back to haunt her on Strictly last year many wondered if the Dancing On Ice favourite would fall foul of the same problem.

That does not appear to be the case though, and bookmaker Ladbrokes has now been forced to trim James’ outright odds into 13/8 after seeing plenty of support for him in the run-up to this weekend’s broadcast.

“We’re surprised to see punters backing James given they completely shunned Ashley Roberts in Strictly Come Dancing because of her previous dance experience,” Ladbrokes’ Jessica Bridge told Bettingpro.com.

“Time will soon tell if this support lasts.”

For now James continues to fend off Wes Nelson in the betting, with the former Love Island star unmoved at 5/2 ahead of ex-Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton at 6/1.

At the other end of the market, it looks like former cricketer Ryan Sidebottom and Grease actress Didi Conn are on borrowed time, with Ladbrokes propping up the betting with the pair at 50/1 and 100/1 respectively.
