Grand Slam of Darts Day Nine tips

Gary Anderson v Peter Wright - Over 27.5 total legs @ 4/5 with William Hill

The opening Semi-Final sees Scottish rivals Anderson and Wright go head-to-head as 'The Flying Scotsman' looks to reach his first final here since 2011 and 'Snakebite' bids to break new ground.

Anderson stormed through Group H with maximum points before overcoming Michael Smith 10-6 with a 107 average and seeing off Mensur Suljovic 16-12 in a heated contest.

The two-time World Champion has a dominant recent record over his colourful counterpart, winning each of their last five matches and losing just one of their last ten.

Wright is appearing in back-to-back Grand Slam Semi-Finals after continuing the consistent run of form which has guided him to more than ten titles this year alone.

The last two meetings between the pair over relatively long formats have proved typically close-run, with Anderson prevailing 11-8 and 10-9; on current form, it's hard to see either player running away with this latest encounter, which should feature a minimum of 28 legs.

Michael van Gerwen win and most 180s @ 4/6 with Paddy Power

The two most successful players in PDC history lock horns in the second Semi-Final as reigning and two-time Grand Slam champion Van Gerwen takes on six-time Grand Slam king - Phil Taylor.

With Taylor packing away his arrows for the final time at the end of the season, this could be the last time the two tungsten titans collide in a major televised tournament.

Just as he did in Blackpool this summer, Taylor has rolled back the years to produce some of his vintage best form, none more so than in his Quarter-Final clash with Daryl Gurney - where he reeled off 12 consecutive legs and averaged 104.

Van Gerwen has stretched his unbeaten run in this competition to 19 games, topping Group A before thrashing Steve Lennon 10-3 and edging out Rob Cross 16-13 in an epic tussle.

The world number one appears to be peaking at the perfect time and is looking to let his darts do the talking as he bids to avert a third straight televised defeat to 'The Power' - who has also won seven of their last ten meetings.

Van Gerwen will determined to let his darts do the talking in light of Taylor's open criticism of his rival's conduct, and over this format, it's difficult to back against the defending champion - who should also top the 180 column.

How to bet on the Grand Slam of Darts

Betting on the Grand Slam of Darts could not be simpler, with a wide range of pre-match, outright and in-play markets at your fingertips via the majority of leading sports bookmakers.

To place a bet on the Grand Slam of Darts, simply go to the home page of your chosen bookmaker on either the desktop site or mobile app and head to the A-Z sports menu.

From there, select Darts > Grand Slam and locate the match or market you wish place a bet on. Single bets for outright winner, match coupons for accumulators and in-play markets are then listed on the interface. Compile your bet by clicking on the odds which will then add it to your betslip.

On the betslip, you can then key in your stake and the type of bet you wish to place, for example, singles, multiples or each-way. Once your bet has been placed, keep an eye out for the cash-out option while your bets are still open, which is offered by most of the leading firms.

Grand Slam of Darts betting markets offered

Typically, the top bookmakers for darts such as William Hill and BetVictor can offer as many as 50 pre-match markets on major tournament matches and even more in-play.

Under the sets format, there are two possible outcomes in matches: Player A win or Player B win and there are a number of other popular markets when it comes to this particular tournament.

The correct score market allows punters to back a specific score, while the total legs market is also well-backed in a case of closely-matched fixtures, whereby punters are not relying on a specific player to win, just the score to amount to a total number of legs above or below the cut-off tally.

Most 180s bets are perhaps the second most popular market among darts backers, while some firms may even offer 180 handicaps on some of the most prolific maximum hitters such as Dave Chisnall, Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson.

More notable pre-match markets include sets handicaps, whereby a virtual advantage or disadvantage to either player is awarded in order to even the field, for example a +1.5 sets handicap bet would be for Player A or B to win the match if 1.5 sets were to be added to their final tally.

Other typical pre-match markets offered by the majority of leading bookies include highest checkout (backing which player will register the highest finish) and nine-dart finish - whether one or more players will hit a perfect leg, for which odds as long as 100/1 can be snapped up.

A host of bookies also offer what is known as a 'king of the oche' bet, which is effectively a treble offering appealing odds for a player to win the match, hit the most 180s and the highest checkout.

A popular new trend among leading bookmakers is to allow punters the chance to compile their own unique bets, requesting the odds directly via social media. These include #YourOdds from William Hill and BetVictor's #PriceItUp.
