David Moyes 3/1 favourite to be next Scotland manager

Gordon Strachan has left his role as Scotland manager and William Hill make David Moyes the 11/4 favourite to take over, followed by Malky Mackay at 3/1 and Derek McInnes at 7/2.

Scotland legends Sir Alex Ferguson, Graeme Souness and Kenny Dalglish are all 66/1 to bag the role.

“The last time the Scotland job was available, Moyes’ stock could not have been any higher and he was just a couple of months away from being named Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor at Old Trafford,” William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly told Bettingpro.com.

“He has to be considered amongst the leading candidates however there are a couple of interesting names in the frame.”

BREAKING: Gordon Strachan gone; David Moyes 2/1 favourite for Scotland job

David Moyes is Paddy Power’s 2/1 favourite to become the next Scotland manager after it was confirmed that Gordon Strachan had left the role by “mutual consent”. Sam Allardyce is a big mover in the market though, with the former England boss now a 14/1 shot to head north of the border.

Aiden O’Brien 6/1 to break Bobby Frankel’s record this weekend

Aiden O’Brien is 6/1 with Ladbrokes to break Bobby Frankel’s record for the most Group/Grade One winners in a year this weekend.

The Ballydoyle maestro needs three winners over the weekend to do so, and with entries in five races, the firm are not ruling the exciting prospect out.

However, it is much more likely that O’Brien makes history on Champions Day at Ascot, with Ladbrokes making it even money.

“We might have to wait until Champions Day, but Aidan O’Brien is within reaching distance of making history this weekend,” Ladbrokes’ Nicola McGeady told Bettingpro.com.

“He has entries in five races including the front three in the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket and with just three wins away from breaking the record, it could happen sooner than expected.”

Moyes & Mackay joint favourites but McLeish thinks SFA should stand by Strachan

It is D-Day for Scotland boss Gordon Strachan, with the SFA set to discuss the future of the manager following the national team’s failure to reach the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

David Moyes and Malky Mackay are the 17/10 joint favourites at Paddy Power, but 6/1 shot Alex McLeish does not believe there is “anything to be gained” by replacing Strachan.

“I don’t think there is anything to be gained by shuffling the managerial pack,” McLeish told the Daily Record.

“The second half against Slovenia will always haunt him and I’m sure Gordon had some sleepless nights after it. Now everyone is after him because of the last result but the damage was done earlier. We failed in games we were expected to win.”
