Brian Healy: Back Arthur’s Gift to win 2:30 Worcester

Arthur’s Gift remains a relatively lightly-raced sort who could well have more to offer for Nigel Twiston-Davies, and the Presenting gelding is chanced to get off the mark here. Although he is yet to score, he has turned in some decent shifts for his in-form handler, most notably when finding only one too good here last month when beaten behind Psychedelic Rock; but he had pulled ten lengths clear of the third horse home, so a 6lbs rise in the weights doesn’t appear overly harsh if he can build on that run. He had faced some stiff tasks last term in maiden and novice company, but he is unexposed and potentially well-treated with Tom Humphries’ 7lbs claim offsetting his higher mark. This is slightly easier than the race he contested last time, and a repeat of that effort ought to see him go one better.

Neil Roarty: Back Republic of Ireland to beat Denmark

Ireland lost just one home match in qualifying, to a strong Serbian side, and although Denmark won away to Montenegro, Armenia and Kazakhstan they were unable to score in Romania and lost 3-2 to Poland in Warsaw. It must also be remembered that Denmark didn't qualify for either the 2014 World Cup or the 2016 European Championships – they lost a Play Off for the latter, drawing 2-2 with Sweden when needing to win the second-leg of the tie. This squad is not used to performing in pressure situations and if Ireland can frustrate them for long enough in Dublin then they could become nervous and start to panic. The Irish, who have plenty of experience after winning a Play Off for Euro 2016 and also claiming a crucial victory over Wales in Cardiff to get to this stage, are unlikely to do the same and that could be the difference.

Leigh Copson: Back Germany v France to end in draw

World champions Germany were unable to beat an inexperienced England team last Friday night, but they are a side that have not tasted defeat for quite some time and they will be keen to keep their unbeaten run going into next summer’s World Cup. They are capable of doing just that, but they will keep this sequence going by drawing this match with a France side that are unbeaten in their last six, winning five of them. Three of Germany’s last four friendly matches have ended in draws and they have now won just six of their last 17 matches outside of qualifying and major international tournaments. A typical end-of-year friendly stalemate is on the cards.

Lorenzo Gahol: Back Real Madrid to beat Baskonia

Spanish League rivals Real Madrid and Baskonia are aiming to straighten their acts in Vitoria Gasteiz. Los Blancos are coming off back-to-back defeats against Khimki (80-86) and Maccabi Tel Aviv (83-90) to drop to 4-2. League top scorer Luka Doncic will spearhead Real Madrid's offense while Facundo Campazzo is another scoring option for head coach Pablo Laso. Baskonia, meanwhile, dropped to 1-5 after falling short at Khimki 90-91 last week. Tornike Shengelia, Rodrigue Beaubois and Jayson Granger are the main scoring threats for the Basque side. Real Madrid has won its last three meetings against Baskonia in all competitions. We expect Real Madrid to chalk up another win over Baskonia.
