Brian Healy: Back Couer De Lion to win 3:25 Southwell

Couer De Lion is a very smart performer over hurdles, and Alan King’s Pour Moi gelding looks very well treated on his return to the flat, having won on turf at Nottingham last May and then going close at Newmarket in the Cesarewitch Trial where he found only Who Dares Wins too strong. The King runner also made the frame in a competitive York handicap behind October Storm before reverting back to hurdles where he has locked horns with both London Prize and Old Guard in past runs. Back on the flat, he is thorougly unexposed on the all-weather, and he turns out here on the same mark as when finishing just over two lengths’ third to October Storm at York on his last outing on the flat. A dual-winner was behind that day, and open to progress he looks the one to side with in this contest for his in-form yard.

Leigh Copson: Back Manchester City to win & both teams to score

Manchester City have been outstanding this season and Pep Guardiola, in his two seasons in charge, has certainly solved the Achilles heel that was their flaky away form under the previous manager. They have won 10 of their 13 away games in the Premier League this season, losing just once, and on their travels in this competition they won two of their three group games, with their only defeat coming in the ‘dead rubber’ with Shakhtar Donestk. When it has mattered, City have delivered this season and I fully expect them to deliver again here, with City to win & both teams to score my selection. As you will already know this side is loaded with goals, but at the other end they continue to concede regularly. The Premier League leaders have managed just two clean sheets in their last 10 games in all competitions, so it would be no surprise to see them concede against a Basel outfit that scored in all three of their home games in the group stage, sticking five past Benfica.

Leye Aduloju: Back Lucie Safarova to beat Julia Goerges

Lucie Safarova and Julia Goerges are tied at 2-2 on head-to-head, with three of their four matches going the distance. Goerges has been in superb form for the best part of the last year, but Safarova remains the dangerous Czech lefty who is more than capable of taking down the best players in the world on her day, as reflected in her 25 top-ten wins.

Lorenzo Gahol: Back Houston Rockets -2.5 to beat Minnesota Timberwolves

The Houston Rockets are hoping to stay hot after they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center. The Rockets (42-13) extended their winning run to eight games after beating the Dallas Mavericks 104-97 on Sunday. James Harden topscored with 27 points while Chris Paul had an all-around effort of 25 points, nine assists and eight rebounds. The Wolves (35-24), meanwhile, are targeting back-to-back wins after beating the Sacramento Kings 111-106 at home on Sunday. Karl-Anthony Towns scored 29 points as Minnesota snapped a two-game skid. The Rockets blasted the Wolves 116-98 in Houston last January 18 behind the 30 points of super sub Eric Gordon. We are backing the Rockets to extend their winning run.
