TIPS: The Bettingpro team share their best bets for Thursday, April 26

Leigh Copson 26 Apr 2018

The Bettingpro.com team each pick out their best bet from the sporting action on Thursday, April 26 with selections from the Indian Premier League cricket, the ATP Barcelona tennis, the Europa League football and more.

Andrew Hendrie: Back Karen Khachanov to beat David Goffin at ATP Barcelona

It was this time 12 months ago when Khachanov scored one of the best wins of his young career to date when he beat Goffin in three sets in the Barcelona Open Round of 16 - and I think he can repeat that performance again on Thursday. Khachanov is an excellent player already on natural surfaces and made the fourth round of the French Open last year. He’s got weapons to hit through the clay and when he’s in the zone, he can prove very hard to stop. In fact, it took Rafael Nadal to stop Khachanov in Monte-Carlo last week in the Round of 16 after the Russian had advanced that far without dropping a set. Goffin meanwhile is still searching for his best form after returning from an eye injury, making the quarter-finals in Monte-Carlo before falling to Grigor Dimitrov. The Belgian was on the brink of elimination against Marcel Granollers in his Barcelona opener, but he managed to claw his way back into the match and ultimately run away with the third set. I still think Goffin has a way to go, and if Khachanov plays within himself, he can claim another big win in the Spanish city.

Ben Darvill: Back Chris Gayle top be Top Kings XI Punjab batsman vs. Sunrisers Hyderabad

Chris Gayle has always been the man to see a big game get taken up another level with his clean hitting, monstrous power and big personality all part of the show. In recent years his powers seem to have been faltering though, that is until this season. The Kings XI Punjab batsman is averaging 229.00 in the IPL this campaign and he is tearing opposition bowlers apart. He missed his team’s last game due to soreness but, if he does make the starting team, he is a good bet to top score yet again.

Leigh Copson: Back Marseille to beat Salzburg & Under 3.5 Total Goals

It has been fairytale stuff from Salzburg but can they add another scalp to their collection by ousting Marseille in the semi-finals? History suggests they are more than capable of doing just that because these two teams have already met this season in the group stage. Salzburg ran out 1-0 winners on their home turf back in late September, before earning a 0-0 draw when the two teams met again at the Stade Velodrome in early December. Marseille, of course, will remember all of this and will be eager to get their revenge – I expect them to get it. That 0-0 draw late last year is the only time they have failed to win at home in the Europa League this season – they have won seven and drawn one – and they have been in strong form at the Stade Velodrome over the past few months. They have recorded positive results when hosting the likes of Paris St Germain and Monaco this season too, so I am backing L’OM to win this first-leg clash, which is likely to be a low-scoring affair. After all, the two group games produced only one goal.
