West Indies take on India in the 1st ODI between the two sides.

West Indies vs India - 1st ODI - 14:30 BST

After an awful showing in their three match T20 series, the West Indies will be desperate to get back to winning ways, or at least to challenging in games, with the side not enjoying their cricket of late. The return of Chris Gayle to the side is a move that could bring fireworks, but the veteran batsman struggled at the Cricket World Cup with runs not coming freely, and if his form is to continue to slump, then expect India to strike early.

India meanwhile come into this one on the back of three straight wins over the Windies, with victories by four wickets, 22 runs and seven wickets something that shows just how far ahead the outfit are ahead of their hosts. Virat Kohli continues to captain the side with India’s squad looking very strong as they get back to 50 over cricket for the first time since they suffered a shock loss to New Zealand at the World Cup. It will be a priority for Kohli and the side to win this match and get back to tasting victory in ODI’s as quickly as possible.

One man that looked absolutely outstanding with the bat throughout the Cricket World Cup over the summer was Rohit Sharma. With five centuries and finishing as the top scorer at the tournament, Sharma was a key man in India’s run to the semi-finals and he displayed an incredible temperament out in the middle, with innings that featured fluent shots but also grafting runs when they were needed against bowling attacks that tested every inch of his ability. In this one we expect him to notch the runs once again and he can currently be backed at 5/2 to top score for the side with BetFred. Virat Kohli (2/1) is ahead of him in the betting, but we feel Sharma is a better call as he completely outshone his captain with the bat at the World Cup, while he enjoyed a good start to the T20 series against the Windies too, with the opener looking in ominous form once again.
