West Indies vs New Zealand Predictions

West Indies vs New Zealand Betting Tips

West Indies come into this one in real trouble as their good start to the World Cup has made way for some real struggles as they slumped to seventh in the table after five matches. A dismantling of Pakistan in their opening game was the perfect start to the tournament, but subsequent losses to Australia, England and Bangladesh along with a No Result against South Africa sees the Windies flailing in the standings. Indeed, their awful performance against Bangladesh saw them beaten by 51 balls and seven wickets, with their opponents completely outclassing the Windies with both bat and ball. New Zealand meanwhile have been outstanding, with an unbeaten run after five games seeing the Black Caps to the top of the table. A 10 wicket win over Sri Lanka was followed by a tight two wicket victory over Bangladesh as New Zealand displayed two very different sides of their game. This was then followed by a win over Afghanistan, a No Result again India which favoured New Zealand, and an enthralling four wicket win over South Africa to see the Black Caps rise back to the top of the table once again. It should be noted that New Zealand are yet to play any of the three other top teams, with matches against Australia and England to come in their final two matches, but they may have already secured their place int he semis by the time they come to face Australia.

Match Winner

Recent results between the two sides have been very weighted towards New Zealand, with the side beating the Windies comfortably in six of their last seven matches. While the all-time results between the two nations sees West Indies leading 30-27, the side have struggled for form in recent matches at the World Cup. The poor form of Chris Gayle in recent matches is something that will really worry the side, while their bowling attack was awful against both England and Bangladesh, with the Windies struggling on both counts after a fast start to the tournament. New Zealand meanwhile can call upon Lockie Ferguson (11 wickets), Matt Henry (seven wickets) and James Neesham (six wickets), with the trio starring with the ball in the wicket-taking absence of Trent Boult, who has only snared four victims this summer despite being New Zealand’s premier bowler. With the bat, Ross Taylor continues to impress while Kane Williamson’s match-winning century last time out was superb, and if he continues in this sort of form then he will surely lead New Zealand towards the semi-finals.

To Score A Fifty

Kane Williamson was in inspired form in his last game as he put in a performance of real skill and determination against South Africa. 106 not out from 138 is not really an ODI kind of innings, but Williamson came in with the score at 12/1 and, as wickets began to tumble with New Zealand going from 72/2 to 80/4, the captain knew exactly what was needed of him as he dug in and put a stop to South Africa’s bowlers. Just nine fours and a single six shows that it was perhaps not the most fluent performance from the captain, but that is where Williamson thrives, with his ability to come in and adapt his game to what his side needs superb. With an ODI average of 59.50 in 2019, Williamson has looked incredibly good, with five fifties and a century in 13 innings something that makes us confident the captain will notch yet another score for his team.
