Can New Zealand secure their place in the semi-finals of the Cricket World Cup, or will Pakistan increase the pressure on England with a huge win? Read on for our best bets for this World Cup clash.

New Zealand vs Pakistan Predictions

New Zealand vs Pakistan Betting Tips

New Zealand continued their fantastic start to the Cricket World Cup as they defeated West Indies by just 5 runs in a game of incredible tension. Captain Kane Williamson once again came in and scored the runs as he notched 148, more than half of the 291 runs the Black Caps managed in the game. In reply, West Indies were teetering at 164/7, but an outstanding score of 101 from Carlos Brathwaite threatened to drag the Windies to a shock win, but he fell trying to smash James Neesham over the rope only for Trent Boult to pouch the catch and spark wild celebrations for New Zealand and utter dejection for the Windies. That win was as close as New Zealand have gotten to defeat so far, but all that matters is the fact they picked up the two points, helping them onto 11 points for the campaign, with this seeing the Black Caps back to the top of the table. Pakistan meanwhile come into this one with hopes of a place in the last-four renewed following England’s loss to Sri Lanka. Two wins in six matches along with three defeats and a No Result see the side onto five points, with the three point gap between themselves and England in fourth one they will feel is one they can bridge. If they are to secure one of the top spots then they will have to defeat the side that sits at the top, with this a very good barometer of how close Pakistan are to the top-four sides.

Match Winner

New Zealand’s form at this World Cup has been incredibly impressive, with the Black Caps  looking to prove that they are one of the top sides in the world after a superb campaign. Pakistan meanwhile have struggled to keep pace with those above them as they have been far too inconsistent of late. With matches against Afghanistan and Bangladesh to come, Pakistan know that a win on Wednesday would see them go into their final two games with the wind in their sails along with the potential of a place in the last-four of the competition. Despite the fact Pakistan will feel they have a lot to gain and so should be confident, they come up against a New Zealand side that are unbeaten at the World Cup this year and boast 12 wins in their last 14 against Pakistan, with 12 victories in a row between December 2014 and November 2018. For this reason we feel the Black Caps are the team to back to edge closer to finishing at the top of the group and to deal Pakistan’s hopes of a semi-final spot a hammer blow.

To Score A Fifty

We are not overly confident backing any of the Pakistan batsmen as they continue to prove to be exceptionally inconsistent in the middle. For New Zealand, the likes of Ross Taylor, Colin Munro and Martin Guptill have all struggled to replicate their form from before the World Cup, but they have been dragged through their last two games by the incredible scoring ability of captain Kane Williamson, with the number three batsman scoring 106 not out and 148 in his last two matches. Across 2019, Williamson has managed to average a superb 67.55 in 14 innings with two centuries and five half-centuries in this time. What has been most impressive about Williamson is his ability to get in and bat in tough circumstances. Against both South Africa and the Windies, Williamson came in with the Black Caps in trouble and he managed to steer them to strong scores. His exploits across world cricket in all formats of the game make him incredibly dangerous, and he will come into this one in confident mood, especially with his average of 56.13 against Pakistan in ODI’s.
