Read on for all of our best bets for the games in the Indian Premier League this week including Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings.

Kings XI Punjab vs Rajasthan Royals (Tuesday, 15:30 BST)

Kings XI Punjab come into this one on the back of an awful loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore which gave the former the ignominy of becoming RCB’s first scalp of the season. Despite scoring a competitive 173 in their 20 overs which was anchored by a masterful 99 not out from Chris Gayle, KXIP’s bowling attack failed to hurt their opponents, who got home with eight wickets and four balls to spare. Defeat means the home side sit in fifth in the league with eight points from eight games, with six points between themselves and Chennai Super Kings at the top. Rajasthan Royals arrive following a huge win over Mumbai Indians that helped the side onto four points for the season so far. Set a challenging target of 188 to win, Jos Buttler smashed his way to 89 from 43 as RR won by four wickets in a thrilling match in which the side steadied themselves after falling from 170/2 to 174/6. In this one, it is the first time Buttler will have faced KXIP and Ravi Ashwin since he controversially dismissed the English batsman, and we think RR’s best player will have revenge on his mind. With this, along with his score of 89 which swelled his runs total to 288 for the season, we think he will star again and be RR’s top batsman at a rather tasty 9/4.

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Chennai Super Kings (Wednesday, 15:30 BST)

What a season it is proving to be for David Warner as the Australian continues to prove that his year out of cricket has done nothing to deter his desire and ability. The Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman has been able to easily notch 400 runs from his seven innings at an average of 80.00 this year, the best in the competition of anyone with over 100 total runs.

The opener comes into this one on the back of yet another superb score as he notched a very impressive 51 in difficult batting conditions to set his team on the right track despite the fact they eventually fell to a defeat. This was his fourth fifty of the campaign, while he also boasts a super score of 100 not out this season, and he currently leads second-placed KL Rahul by 65 runs having played an innings less, meaning there is definitely scope for him to regain his 100 run cushion a the top.

SRH are yet to play league leaders Chennai Super Kings this season, but he has impressed in recent meetings with the side, notching 204 runs in this fixture for his own team, making him the fourth highest scorer in the fixture. With this in mind, while we think the home team will struggle against a very good CSK side, we think Warner will continue his awesome form with the bat as he often looks like he simply will not be stopped, with his boundary finding shots providing a constant thorn in the side of his opponents. Of course, CSK will provide him with the biggest challenge of the season through their superb bowling attack, but we expect Warner to pass it with flying colours.

Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians (Thursday, 15:30 BST)

The Indian Premier League is beginning to near the closing stages of proceedings as the tournament heats up. As things stand, Chennai Super Kings lead the way with seven wins in eight resulting in 14 points, meaning they are four points clear of Delhi Capitals in second, who host Mumbai Indians on Thursday in a match which sees second take on third.

Delhi Capitals have impressed this season, with the side’s rebrand resulting in five wins in eight including the impressive scalps of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders twice in a campaign which has been superb, while they also claimed a massive 37 run win over their next opponents on the opening day to ensure they come into this one with the mental edge. Mumbai Indians also have five wins to their name but an inferior net run rate to DC, meaning they stay in third. Wins over Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab show they are strong, but where they impressed most was in their victory over Chennai Super Kings in game 15, with that the only loss CSK have suffered this year. Clearly, both sides are exceptionally strong.

Despite the competitive nature of the two teams and how evenly-matched they are, we are backing the home side at odds of 11/10 in comparison to MI’s 8/11. As previously mentioned, DC have been very consistent and beat MI in their last clash, while DC also boast a far superior record at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium where they have won six of the nine games between the pair at this venue, and they have also beaten their opponents in their last three games in a row. The odds on a DC win clearly provide decent value then, and we have absolutely no hesitation recommending Delhi Capitals to win the game when considering their form this season and their recent meetings with MI.

Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royals Challengers Bangalore (Friday, 15:30 BST)

Kolkata Knight Riders are looking to hit back after a tough run has seen the side slip from the playoff spots down to sixth in the table. With four wins from eight, KKR have looked good at times, but they must hit back and start winning again soon, or they will surely fall even further behind the pace setters. Royal Challengers Bangalore meanwhile enjoyed their first win of the season over Kings XI Punjab last Saturday, and they will look to channel this victory into another one this time around. Two players that have looked very good of late are KKR’s Chris Lynn and RCB’s Virat Kohli. After a slow start to the season, Kohli has been able to kick on well, scoring 278 runs at an average of 34.75, while Lynn has scored 212 runs at an average of 30.28, and while the pair may not currently sit in the top spots for run scoring, they are two of the IPL’s best players. Our bet for this game revolves around them then, and with Lynn striking 22 4’s this year along with Kohli hammering 28 4’s, we feel confident that these two will come through on this one and notch the necessary amount of boundaries.

Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians (Saturday, 11:30 BST)

Rajasthan Royals host Mumbai Indians in the early game on Saturday as the pair look to make up the space on the sides above them. For RR, this season has been a disappointing one, with two wins in eight resulting in just four points. Meanwhile, MI have managed to win six of their nine games seeing them into second-place with 12 points. The fortunes of the two teams suggest that it will be the away side that pick up the win in this one, so we are shirking away from the match winner market as MI are odds-on and so offer little value. Instead, we are looking to back Jos Buttler and Quinton de Kock to score at least one six each in the game. Buttler has been able to smash 311 runs in eight innings at an average of 38.87, while de Kock has 313 runs in nine innings at 34.77. Combined, the two have slammed 27 sixes between them in the current campaign and, with their strong recent form in mind, we think they will be in the runs again, with boundaries and maximums likely to follow.

Delhi Capitals vs Kings XI Punjab (Saturday, 15:30 BST)

Delhi Capitals are looking to get back to winning ways immediately after their incredibly disappointing loss to Mumbai Indians last time out. Defeat left the side still sitting in the playoff spots, but they are now four short of Chennai Super Kings at the top, while their defeat also saw MI go two points clear of the side. Kings XI Punjab meanwhile have been good this season and they find themselves level on points with Delhi at this stage following five wins and four draws. The main attraction of the KXIP side so far has been their opening partnership, with Chris Gayle and KL Rahul in fine form. Indeed, Gayle is the sixth highest scoring batsman in the tournament with 352 runs at an average of 50.28, while Rahul is second with 387 runs at 64.50 per game. Our bet for this one therefore revolves around the pair, and we are backing Rahul to notch over three fours, of which he has 30 in the tournament, while we expect Gayle to add two more sixes to his haul of 26 maximums so far.

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders (Sunday, 11:30 BST)

Sunrisers Hyderabad come into this one in desperate need of a win following a very disappointing start to their campaign. Last season’s beaten-finalists seemed well placed for a title push this year, but just four wins in eight has seen the side slip down to fifth in the table with eight points, six short of Chennai Super Kings at the top. Kolkata Knight Riders are another side that seemed like to reach the playoffs, but five losses in nine has seen the side slip don to sixth in the table with eight points, six short of CSK, with the side currently enduring a four game losing run. One man that has been awesome throughout SRH’s campaign despite their struggles is David Warner, who has slammed a league high 450 runs in eight will continue to prove his worth to the side. He is currently 2/1 with William Hill to top score, and with an incredibly average of 75.00, we think he will star yet again.

Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings (Sunday, 15:30 BST)

Royal Challengers Bangalore seem to have finally woken up in this season’s Indian Premier League, with the side able to pick up two vital wins as they look to keep their incredibly slim playoff hopes alive. Wins over Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders sandwiched a loss to Mumbai Indians, but two wins in three matches means RCB come into this one in good form. Chennai Super Kings arrive for this one sitting at the top of the tree with seven wins in nine seeing them boast a two point lead over MI. However, not everything has been perfect for the side as they fell to a convincing defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad last time out meaning they had to endure their second loss of the season. In this one we are backing a CSK win, but this comes at odds-on so we are choosing not to recommend backing them. Instead, we feel looking to RCB’s captain and best player in Virat Kohli, who has 378 runs at an average of 42.00, to top score is the way to go. A very impressive score of 100 against KKR followed scores of 84, 41, 67 and eight, and we think he will continue his good form in this one, meaning we are backing him to top score again.
