Australia odds-on to beat India despite tourist’s fightback.

Australia and India played out an enthralling first day of the first Test as the two great cricketing nations traded blows. Australia were well on top as they had India teetering at 86-5 with Virat Kohli back in the pavilion with just 3 runs to his name.

However, an inspired innings from Cheteshwar Pujara helped India close on 250/9, with the number three notching 123.

Australia may be on top now, with the odds reflecting this as they are odds-on at 40/85 with BetVictor, with India drifting to 11/5, but they will still be very disappointed. The Aussies had India on the brink, and at five down for well short of 100, they would have felt that another quick wicket would have likely seen the rest of the deck fall.

India will be buoyed by their tail wagging, and they will look at what the Australian bowlers did to their batting lineup and hope to inflict exactly the same on their hosts in what should be an exciting second day to the Test.

BetVictor - Australia vs India Winner betting odds:

Australia - 40/85

Draw - 11/1

India - 11/5
