England take on Australia at the Rose Bowl on Saturday with both teams looking to extend their impressive winning runs.

The World Cup is now just a matter of days away with the best teams in cricket coming together to battle it out to become 2019 world Cup winner. As things stand, hosts England are the favourites to win the competition at 15/8 with Unibet, while Virat Kohli’s India are second up at 3’s. One side that are so used to being at the very pinnacle of the game are Australia, and while they are currently third favourites at 7/2, they might not even have been this high only a matter of months ago as they were in free-fall in all forms of the game. However, an impressive winning run along with the return to the team for the formerly-banned David Warner and Steve Smith sees the Aussies’ hopes of winning the competition revived massively as they look to continue to dominate the 50 over World Cup.

Australia’s next match sees the side take on tournament hosts and old rivals England at the Rose Bowl on Saturday and while it gives them a great chance to really test how far they have come, if they are able to get a win from the clash then they will go into the tournament with a huge mental boost after knocking over the world’s best ODI team on their own patch. For England, this clash represents a chance to end one of their main rivals impressive runs, while it also gives the selectors of the starting XI for the first game of the World Cup the opportunity to select a team that is close to their strongest.
