Cheltenham Festival day two tips – Win £200 betting through the card with William Hill’s welcome offer

Our experts show readers how they can use William Hill’s free bet welcome offer to run through the card on day two at the Cheltenham Festival.

How to claim William Hill’s free bet welcome offer:
  1. Open a new account with William Hill using the promo code “C30”
  2. Place a £10 bet on any race at the Cheltenham Festival
  3. Receive 3 X £10 free bets to use in any sporting market.

This fantastic offer means you now have four £10 bets for a single £10 deposit. Free bets are ideal to use at the Cheltenham Festival and our experts have suggested a way readers can make £200 betting through the card on day two using William Hill’s free bets.

Bet 1

Samcro has been lauded like the second-coming of Jesus Christ after just three successful runs over jumps. While sentiments of such grandeur seem premature, it’s hard not to be impressed with the ease at which he’s dominated the competition and the Ballymore looks like the favourites’ to lose.

The same can be said for Altior, who impressed on his first start of the season when brushing aside Politologue in the Game Spirit Chase. Min laid down a marker at the Dublin Racing Festival and Douvan is an obvious player if fit, but Altior put Min in his place when they clashed in that epic Supreme in 2016 and there’s no doubting who has progressed more since the switch to chasing.

Both Samcro and Altior look like bankers on day two at Cheltenham. While the double doesn’t return a great amount of profit, it’s a solid way to open this through-the-card tips.

Bet 2 – Free Bet

While Monalee and Presenting Percy look genuine Grade One class and Black Corton cannot be ignored, ELEGANT ESCAPE has shown composure and battling qualities beyond his years and looks to be the best each-way bet in this competitive Grade One.

Colin Tizzard’s charge has won two of his five starts over fences, finishing second on the other three occasions. Harry Cobden drove his mount to a fantastic victory over Black Corton in the Grade Two John Francombe back in November. His rival reversed that form when winning the Kauto Star, but Elegant Escape recovered from a couple of sloppy jumps to finish closest to Paul Nicholls’ winner.

Tom O’Brien’s mount made all the running on his Festival warm-up, defeating a dangerous rival by 13 lengths on testing ground at Kelso. His best performance this season came on good-to-soft ground and he has experience running at the Festival, finishing seventh in last year’s Albert Bartlett. Elegant Escape is clearly going to get better as he gets older, but he's shown enough this season to suggest he could challenge for a title of this size and stature.

Bet 3 – Free Bet

Gordon Elliott threw TIGER ROLL in at the deep-end as he opened a new chapter of his career in the Cross Country ranks and it could pay to back the dual-Festival winner to be much improved on his second attempt.

The eight-year-old was backed into 7/1 for the Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap at Cheltenham’s International meeting, but looked a little uneasy in his new surroundings and trailed over the line a distant fifth. His performance that day was reminiscent of stablemate Cause Of Causes’ performance in the same race 12 months earlier - he also finished 40 or so lengths behind the winner, before achieving great things during the spring

Like Cause Of Causes, Tiger Roll is a multiple Cheltenham Festival winner, having followed up his victory in the 2014 Triumph Hurdle by winning the National Hunt Chase last year. He clearly loves it here at Cheltenham and has plenty of scope for improvement, especially now the weights are all level.

Bet 4 – Free Bet

Often a notoriously difficult race to unravel, the vote to land the spoils in Wednesday’s final Grade One goes to Anthony Honeyball’s ACEY MILAN who has been impressive in racking up a three-timer from his four starts, and the Milan gelding can continue to improve.

Runner-up on his debut at Exeter in October on better ground, the four-year old has since struck three times in the mud, posting a win at Wincanton prior to landing the odds over this course on New Years’ Day, beating Malinas Jack by the best part of four lengths. He made all the running on that occasion, and he found plenty for his rider’s urging to score well in that Listed contest.

If both the each-way selections we have suggested only place, then your return will drop to around the £100 mark. However, if all four bets were to win, you would make just under £200 from a single £10 deposit with William Hill. An excellent return for a small investment on day two of the Festival!

Terms & Conditions
When you open a new Account with William Hill using promotion code "C30" ("Account") and you opt in to this Promotion (by following the instructions below) and you stake your first bet on your Account as a qualifying Single Bet of at least £10 or €10 ("Minimum Stake") on any market or selection on the "Sports" page on the Website ("Sportsbook Bet") at odds of 1/2 (1.5) or greater during the Promotion Period ("Initial Bet"), you will receive 3 separate £10 (or €10) free bets (each a "Free Bet" and together "Free Bets") ("Free Bets"), in addition to any winnings from your Initial Bet.
Each Free Bet can be used on any Sportsbook Bet (subject to the restrictions set out in the "What restrictions apply when you redeem your Free Bets?" section, below) and must be wagered within 30 days of the date on which your Free Bet was credited to your Account ("Bonus Period").
Any unused Free Bets on your Account will automatically expire at the end of the Bonus Period (and you will not be eligible to use the Free Bets or take any further part in this Promotion).
This Promotion and any Free Bets are only available once per customer and you may not receive more than 3 Free Bets.
Which Initial Bets qualify for this Promotion?
In order to be eligible for this Promotion (and any Free Bets), your Initial Bet must be placed: a) on a selection with single or cumulative odds of 1/2 (1.5) or greater; b) on a Sportsbook Bet; and c) using funds from your Main Balance (you cannot place an Initial Bet (in whole or in part) using a Free Bet or any other free bets or bonuses received from any other promotion).
If your Initial Bet is an Each Way bet then only the part of the bet on the winner of the selection and not the part of the bet on the selection to place will count towards your Initial Bet. For example, if you placed an Each Way bet of: a) £5 (i.e. a total stake of £10), only £5 would count towards your Initial Bet. Your Initial Bet would not meet the Minimum Stake and would not qualify for the Promotion (or the Free Bets); or b) £10 (i.e. a total stake of £20), £10 would count towards your Initial Bet. Your Initial Bet would meet the Minimum Stake and would therefore qualify for the Promotion.
This Promotion applies to Pre-match and In-play Bets.
