Floyd Mayweather will exit retirement to take on UFC star Conor McGregor in a hugely-anticipated super-fight on August 26, and ahead of this mega-money showdown Leigh Copson has taken a look back at the six biggest victories of 'Money' Mayweather's unbeaten career.

With a 24-0 record to his name, Mayweather was taking a serious step up in the quality of opposition when he stepped into the ring opposite Diego Corrales. Corrales boasted a perfect 33-0 record going into this contest, with an incredible 27 of those wins coming via KO, but he was out of his league on this occasion. Mayweather dropped Corrales five times on route to a 10th round stoppage win that cemented his status as one of the brightest new stars in the sport.

Mayweather was well and truly on his way to being considered at the pound-for-pound number one fighter on the planet at this point, and he staked his claim to be number one with a battling performance. Often one to leave the ring looking like he did when he walked in, Mayweather came away from the ring a little swollen on that night, but he did walk away with a split-decision win from what had been the toughest fight of his career at that time.

The world seemingly ground to a halt as two unbeaten superstars stepped into the ring in Las Vegas. Boxing had not seen a fight as big as this for a long time, with even non-boxing fans gripped by the storyline of the flash and flamboyant Mayweather doing battle with the every-man Hatton. Only one man could remain unbeaten and after weathering an early storm, Mayweather turned on the style to stop Hatton in the 10th round.

While it may not have been his finest hour, Mayweather was forced to show his resolve as veteran Shane Mosley almost scored a shock win early on. ‘Sugar Shane’ caught Mayweather with a massive right during the second and had his opponent reeling, but ‘Money’ held on for dear life and, after getting his feet back under him, the unbeaten fighter pulled away to win via a convincing unanimous decision.

Fans had been clamouring for this fight for many years, and they got what they wanted when Mayweather and Miguel Cotto stepped into the same ring in 2012. Mayweather is known for his supreme defensive skills and his movement in the ring, but on this occasion he stood toe-to-toe with Cotto and earned his unanimous decision win the old-fashioned way.

For years fans had debated about who is the pound-for-pound number one fighter on the planet, and in May 2 they were finally given their answer as the two men stepped inside the same ring. Fans were charged record numbers to see the super-fight in person and on television, and it ultimately proved to be a massive let-down as Mayweather cruised to a decision victory. However, while it may not have been the most exciting fight, 'Money' did confirm his status as the sport's number one fighter.
