Floyd Mayweather has sparked rumours that his in-ring career might not be over just yet, and bookmaker Paddy Power has responded by going 5/4 that he signs on for a rematch with UFC star Conor McGregor.

Mayweather hung up his gloves – for the third time – in the wake of his stoppage win over McGregor in late August, but he has posted a couple of videos of him working with a punching bag on Twitter and that has resulted in speculation that ‘Money’ could attempt to take his perfect record to 51-0.

“If there’s one thing that boxing kingpin Floyd Mayweather does better than anyone else, it is self-promotion,” said a spokesperson for Paddy Power. “It looks like he’s got everyone eating out of the palm of his hand again.”

Paddy Power is 2/1 that Mayweather has a professional boxing match in 2018, while going 5/1 he returns in 2019 and 15/2 that he next steps inside the ring for a bout in 2020.

And of course, the big question is who will be standing opposite Mayweather if he does decide to come out of retirement once again.

UFC lightweight champion McGregor has insisted he would get the better of Mayweather if the two men met again, and Paddy Power is 5/4 that he is named the next opponent for the former boxing pound-for-pound number one.

“What’s sickening me is that the little mother**ker is retired now,” McGregor said during an appearance in Glasgow.
“I know if I went another go with him, under boxing rules, I’d get that win. I know that. I know by the feeling of him in the first fight. He had to change his whole approach. He fought completely different than he ever fought. He couldn’t figure out what I was doing early on.
“With the lessons I learned from that first fight, if I had another go now, I’d get him. At the same time, he’s 50-0 and he’s getting on, I’m not gonna start calling him out. Let’s see how he handles this round of money. I might get the phone call again and we may do it again.”

Paddy Power is 5/1 that a rematch of the mega-bucks bout with Manny Pacquiao is next up for ‘Money’, while a second meeting with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has been priced up at 6/1. The firm is 8/1 that Mayweather makes the step up in weight to face unbeaten world middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, while it is 10/1 that ‘Money’ agrees to a showdown with Pacquiao conqueror Jeff Horn.
