The world heavyweight title fight between Anthony Joshua and Jarrell Miller could be in jeopardy after an “adverse finding” in one of the challenger’s pre-fight drug tests.

Joshua is poised to make his US debut at Madison Square Garden on June 1, but there is now a cloud of uncertainty hanging over the fight after the champion’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, revealed the news about Miller’s drug test results on Twitter.

“We have been informed by VADA that there has been an adverse finding in Jarrell Miller’s sample collected on March 20th, 2019,” Hearn tweeted. “We are working with all relevant parties and will update with more details soon. AJ’s preparation continues for June 1st at MSG.”

Miller’s camp confirmed the news, but his co-promoter, Dmitry Salita, appears confident that the issue will be sorted and that ‘Big Baby’ will still get his crack at the IBF, WBA and WBO titles in New York City in less than two months’ time.

“We are in the process of obtaining further information about VADA's finding and will have more to say soon on this developing situation,” he wrote.

“In the meantime, Jarrell continues to train for his June 1 fight against Anthony Joshua.”

Joshua is the overwhelming 1/8 favourite with Ladbrokes for the scheduled world title fight, with Miller considered a 5/1 underdog, but the bookmakers are pricing up other fights for the champion in case this bout is shelved.

AJ’s long-time rival Dillian Whyte could be considered a front-runner to step in and replace Miller should he be removed and ‘The Bodysnatcher’ will have his sights set on avenging the stoppage defeat he suffered at the hands of the champion a few years ago.

However, the bookies do not like his chances with Joshua considered the 1/4 and Whyte an 11/4 underdog.

Elsewhere Joshua is a 2/9 favourite with Paddy Power for a showdown with cruiserweight kingpin Oleksandr Usyk, while the Irish bookmaker is 5/6 that the unbeaten heavyweight champion wins a huge domestic scrap with Tyson Fury, who is priced at 10/11 for a contest the bookies believe would be too close to call.
