Golden State Warriors at Toronto Raptors (02:00 BST on Friday)

The Golden State Warriors take on the Toronto Raptors at the Scotiabank Arena on Thursday night in Game 1 of the 2019 NBA finals. The Warriors advanced to the championship series for the fifth consecutive season after sweeping the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference finals. The two-time defending champions made short work of the Blazers despite missing Kevin Durant. It remains uncertain if Golden State’s top scorer will suit up in Game 1. The good news for Golden State fans is DeMarcus Cousins is making significant progress and could return at any point in the series. The All-Star big man hasn’t played since suffering a quad injury last April 15. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are out to impress anew against the Raptors after leading the Warriors in the conference finals. Curry averaged 36.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.3 assists while Thompson put up 21.5 points per game. Green had an all-around performance of 16.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 2.8 blocks and 2.3 steals. The All-Star forward also registered triple-doubles in their last two games. Head coach Steve Kerr also got quality minutes from reserves Kevon Looney and Jordan Bell in their series against Portland. The Warriors are aiming to become the first team to win three consecutive NBA crowns since the Los Angeles Lakers achieved the feat in 2002. They earlier eliminated the Los Angeles Clippers and Houston Rockets. The Raptors, meanwhile, reached the championship series for the first time in franchise history after beating the Milwaukee Bucks 100-94 on Saturday to clinch their Eastern Conference finals duel, four games to two. Toronto lost the first two games of the series before sweeping the next four. Kawhi Leonard, who had 27 points and 17 rebounds in their series-clinching win over the Bucks, will lead the Raptors in their quest for a maiden NBA crown. The All-Star forward averaged 29.8 points and 9.5 rebounds against the Bucks. Leonard is no stranger to playing in the championship series. He was part of the San Antonio Spurs that took on the Miami Heat in the 2013 and 2014 NBA finals where he was named Finals MVP. Head coach Nick Nurse will also count on Pascal Siakam, Kyle Lowry, Danny Green and big men Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka to step up in the series. Nurse is aiming to become the first rookie head coach to win an NBA title since Tyronn Lue led the Cleveland Cavaliers to their first and only NBA title in 2016. The Raptors won both meetings against the Warriors in the regular season. We expect the Raptors to pull off a close win in Game 1
