Ben Simmons is the favorite to emerge as NBA Rookie of the Year four weeks into the new season among the major bookmakers across Europe.

The Australian forward leads all rookies in scoring (18.0), rebounding (9.8) and assists (8.2) in his first official season in the league after missing all of last season due to a foot injury. Simmons, the top pick of the 2016 Rookie Draft, has already tallied two triple-doubles this season. He is also playing good music with Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers are off to an impressive start after languishing in the league cellar in the past few seasons.

Expected to challenge Simmons for the ROY award are Lonzo Ball of the Los Angeles Lakers, Dennis Smith of the Dallas Mavericks and Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics.

Ball, the most talked about neophyte this season, is averaging less than 10 points but the highly-touted rookie from UCLA has brought stability to LA's backcourt. He leads the team in assists and is ranked second to Simmons in the same category among rookies.

Smith has been impressive in a mediorce Dallas team that has won only once in its first 11 games. The former North Carolina State playmaker is ranked second in the team in scoring behind Harrison Barnes.

Tatum, meanwhile, was forced to step up early in the season after Gordon Hayward suffered a season-ending leg injury on opening night. The talented small forward from Duke is Boston's fourth leading scorer and is ranked the same among all rookies.

De'Aaron Fox has emerged as the top scorer of a Sacramento Kings squad that is lacking a superstar. The former Kentucky guard also leads the team in assists.

Like Fox, Lauri Markkanen has turned into a franchise player in Chicago in the absence of seasoned stars. The seven-footer from Finland is averaging team-highs 16.3 points and 9 rebounds.
