The Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets are the favorites among the major bookmakers across Europe to win this year's NBA title after the end of the regular season.

The Warriors were the hands-down favorite in the preseason being the defending champion and having won two NBA crowns in the past three seasons but injuries took a toll on the All-Star loaded club which allowed the Rockets to close the gap in the outright odds market.

The Rockets, led by MVP contender James Harden, finished the regular season with a franchise and league-best 65-17 record to secure a homecourt edge throughout the playoffs. They will face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. The Warriors (58-24) finished second to Houston in the West and they will take on the San Antonio Spurs in the first round. Golden State will be without two-time league MVP Stephen Curry in the first round as he has yet to full recover from a knee injury.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are ranked third in the outright odds market to win their second NBA title. The reigning Eastern Conference champions had a roller coaster season which led to a roster overhaul midway through the campaign. In the end, they placed only fourth in the East with a 50-32 record and will play the Indiana Pacers in the first round.

Eastern Conference top seed Toronto Raptors (59-23) are listed fourth to win their maiden NBA crown. The Canadian club will have to get past the Washington Wizards in the opening round. The Philadelphia 76ers also broke into the top five contenders after a strong finish in the regular season that earned them the No. 3 seed in the East and a homecourt edge over the Miami Heat in the first round.

Boston's chances of lifting the Larry O'Brien Trophy this season dwindled after Kyrie Irving suffered a knee injury and is uncertain in the playoffs.
