Golden State Warriors at San Antonio Spurs Game 3 Preview

The Golden State Warriors head to San Antonio with a 2-0 lead over the Spurs in the Western Conference finals on Saturday night.

The top-seeded Warriors extended their unbeaten start in the postseason after blasting the shorthanded Spurs 136-100 on Tuesday. The hosts zoomed to a 33-16 lead after the first period and never looked back to secure their 10th straight win in the playoffs.

Seven Golden State players scored in double figures with Stephen Curry leading the way with 29 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Patrick McCaw had 18 points off the bench while Kevin Durant added 16 as the Warriors registered their second-most lopsided win in playoffs history. Draymond Green had an all-around performance of 13 points, nine rebounds, six assists and two blocks.

"That's just been the message all year, just play with urgency and start the game off with some energy and throw the first punch," Durant said. "Unlike Game 1 we did that tonight. We know they're a little undermanned but they still play extremely hard, so we knew we couldn't come out here and relax and think they were just going to give us the game. We had to go take it."

Jonathon Simmons had 22 points to pace the Spurs, who were without top scorer Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker. Leonard reinjured his left ankle in Game 1 while Parker is out for the season after sustaining a quad injury in their semifinal series against the Houston Rockets. It remains uncertain if Leonard will suit up in Game 3.

"We didn't come to play. We felt sorry for ourselves. We need to get slapped and come back and play Game 3 and see who we are," San Antonio head coach Gregg Popovich said.

LaMarcus Aldridge, Pau Gasol and Patty Mills are all aiming to make up in this game after being non-factors in Game 2.
