Week 1 of the Euroleague 2017-18 regular season continues on Friday.

Here are some key games in the Euroleague on Friday, October 13.

Khimki vs Valencia (18:00 BST)

EuroCup rivals Khimki and Valencia take their rivalry to the Euroleague this season. Valencia beat Khimki in their best-of-three quarterfinal and went on to win to reach the final where it lost to fellow Spanish club Unicaja Malaga in their own best-of-three series. Liga ACB Finals MVP Bojan Dubljevic returns this season along with Rafa Martinez and Fernando San Emeterio. Reigning EuroCup MVP Alexey Shved is back to lead Khimki along with center Marko Todorovic and forward Sergey Monya. Shved averaged 22.1 points and 5.2 assists in the EuroCup last season. With a full-strength line-up plus homecourt edge, we expect Khimki to carve out a close win over Valencia.

Barcelona vs Panathinaikos (20:00 BST)

Barcelona Lassa is coming off an injury-plagued 2016-17 season where it missed the Euroleague playoffs for the first time in more than a decade and failed to win any trophies on the domestic front. Head coach Georgios Bartzokas was sacked in June and has been replaced by Sito Alonso. Also gone are Tyrese Rice, Justin Doellman, Stratos Perperoglou, Brad Oleson, Marcus Eriksson and Alex Renfroe. Left to carry the Catalan giants this season are Juan Carlos Navarro, Ante Tomic, Victor Claver, Pau Ribas, Aleksandar Vezenkov and Petteri Koponen. Among the key players signed by Barcelona in the offseason were Adam Hanga, Kevin Seraphin, Rakim Sanders, Phil Pressey, Pierre Oriola, Adrien Moerman and Thomas Heurtel. Unlike Barcelona, Panathinaikos reached the Euroleague playoffs last season only to be swept by eventual champion Fenerbahce in the best-of-five series. Chris Singleton, KC Rivers and Nick Calathes all return along with head coach Xavi Pascual, who onced called the shots for Barcelona. Barcelona and Panathinaikos split their two meetings last season with each team winning at home. We are backing the hosts to win this duel of former Euroleague champions.
