The Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico renew their rivalry when they face off in the semifinal of the FIBA Centrobasket at the Roberto Duran Arena.

The Dominicans swept Group B after posting wins over Costa Rica (79-58), the Bahamas (87-80), Mexico (82-69) and the US Virgin Islands (75-69).

Young power forward Angel Delgado has proven to be a force to reckon with inside the paint after averaging team-highs 13.8 points and 7.8 rebounds in the group phase. The Seton Hall University standout had 21 points and 11 rebounds against the Virgin Islands on Thursday. Delgado will team up with Eloy Vargas and Sadiel Rojas underneath the basket.

Teaming up in Melvyn Lopez's backcourt are Rigoberto Mendoza, Victor Liz and Juan Coronado. The Dominican Republic last reached the Centrobasket final in 2012 when it defeated Puerto Rico in Hato Rey.

Puerto Rico, meanwhile, finished second in Group A after losing to host Panama (64-87) and rolling past Nicaragua (98-57), Cuba (101-69) and Antigua and Barbuda (117-66).

Six Puerto Rican players are averaging in double figures in scoring led by Michael Rosario, who is producing 17.7 points per game. Head coach Eddie Casiano can also count on guards Jose Juan Barea, Alex Galindo and Guillermo Diaz and frontliners Ramon Clemente and Peter John Ramos.

Puerto Rico is aiming to reach the Centrobasket final for the fifth-straight time. They won the last of their record 10 titles in 2010.

Puerto Rico defeated the Dominican Republic 78-73 in the semifinal of the 2014 Centrobasket in Nayarit. The Puerto Ricans also defeated the Dominicans 96-91 in last year's Tuto Marchand Cup in San Juan and again beat their Caribbean rivals 98-92 in the second round of the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship in Mexico.

The winner of this game will play either host Panama or Mexico in Saturday's final while the loser will fight for the bronze medal.
