Boston Celtics at Chicago Bulls Game 3 Preview

The Chicago Bulls will play before their home fans as they aim for a commanding 3-0 lead over the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference playoffs first round.

The eighth-seeded Bulls cruised to a 111-97 road win in Game 2 to take control of the best-of-seven series. Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade scored 22 points apiece as Chicago followed up its 106-102 win in Game 1.

"Everybody's putting in each work, watching film, working on their game," said Butler, who also had eight rebounds, eight assists, four steals and two blocks. "That's where your confidence always comes from."

The Bulls also got solid contributions from center Robin Lopez (18 points, 8 rebounds) and veteran playmaker Rajon Rondo (11 points, 14 assists, 9 rebounds, 5 steals) and reserve Paul Zipser (16 points).

Isaiah Thomas had 20 points to lead the Celtics, who are in danger of becoming just the sixth top seed in NBA history to lose in the first round of the playoffs.

"We have to play hard no matter what," Celtics guard Avery Bradley said. "You go through a lot throughout a season. You're going to face a lot of adversity. The best teams overcome any type of adversity."

The bad news for Boston fans is their beloved team lost both meetings at the United Center in the regular season and it has not won in the Windy City since 2014.

Thomas, who will rejoin the team after going home to Tacoma to attend his sister's funeral, will again team up with Bradley in Boston's backcourt. They will get support from fellow guard Marcus Smart and frontliners Al Horford and Jae Crowder.
