New York Mets at Atlanta Braves (00:20 BST on Thursday)

National League East rivals New York Mets and Atlanta Braves wrap up their three-game series at SunTrust Park. The Mets tied the series after cruising to a 10-2 win on Tuesday. Pete Alonso hit a two-run shot and drove in three runs to lead the visitors, who snapped a two-game skid. Michael Conforto and Jeff McNeil also homered as New York avenged their 12-3 beating at the hands of the Braves (43-31) in Monday’s opener. McNeil’s homer in the ninth inning gave the Mets (35-38) a 10-0 lead before Freddie Freeman and Josh Donaldson countered with back-to-back homers at the bottom of the final inning. Steven Matz (5-4) is New York’s starting pitcher in the finale. The 28-year-old lefty had a no-decision in their 9-5 home loss to St Louis last Friday where he struck out six and surrendered three hits and four runs in six innings. Max Fried (7-3) will take the mound for the NL East-best Braves. The 25-year-old southpaw did not earn a decision in his last three starts and hasn’t won a game since May 22. He last pitched in Atlanta’s 9-8 home win over Philadelphia on Friday where he fanned four and yielded seven hits and five runs in 4 2/3 innings. We expect the Braves to bounce back in this contest.

Boston Red Sox at Minnesota Twins (01:10 BST on Thursday)

The Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins conclude their three-game duel at Target Field less than 24 hours after engaging in a 17-inning thriller on Tuesday. Max Kepler's RBI single sealed the Twins' 4-3 triumph in the marathon contest that lasted over five hours and ended past midnight. The right fielder also hit a tying homer in the 13th inning as Minnesota snapped Boston’s six-game winning run. Mookie Betts hit a solo shot while Rafael Devers homered and tallied an RBI single to pace the Red Sox. Eduardo Rodriguez (7-4) is aiming for back-to-back wins when he takes the mound for Boston in this duel. The Venezuelan left-hander pitched seven solid innings in their 13-2 win at Baltimore on Friday where he gave up six hits and one run and struck out four. Right-hander Kyle Gibson (7-3) is also upbeat when he starts for Minnesota after pitching eight scoreless innings in their 2-0 home triumph over Kansas City last Friday. The 31-year-old struck out six and gave up just two hits in that contest. We are backing the Twins to make it two wins in a row over the Red Sox.
