Trevor Bryan v Daniel Dubois WBA Heavyweight Title Fight Odds, Tips & Predictions
I believe that Daniel Dubois will become WBA (Regular) heavyweight champion of the world this weekend, although I don’t really agree with it.
Without upsetting too many people, Dubois is the darling of the British public – like Anthony Joshua was – and he probably gets too much of a push.
I’m not taking anything away from Triple D, he is an amazing fighter. My problem is that he was well beaten by Joe Joyce in 2020 and two fights later he gets a world title shot. Surely, Joyce should be getting that push – he won their fight.
Maybe the powers-that-be want the Dubois versus Joyce rematch to be for the belt, but surely Joyce should have got the first opportunity.
Dubois has a professional record of 18 fights, 17 wins and one defeat. Sixteen of his victories have come by way of KO/TKO, so the power is definitely there. His problem is that when an opponent comes with a game plan, he might not be smart enough to change his game. Joyce came and jabbed his face off and he had no answer.
Now, I don’t think that Trevor Bryan will come with that kind of game plan. The American has won 15 of his 22 fights by stoppage and has yet to taste defeat.
He was crowned champion when he won the vacant strap with an 11th round TKO victory over Bermane Stiverne. He has had one title defence, and this bout against Dubois will be his toughest.
Like I have said, I do like Dubois, I just think he is being pushed too much. If he becomes world champion, then fair play to him and push him to the moon. I just feel he hasn’t deserved this shot and I don’t care that he is ranked number one by the WBA.
Saying that, Dubois won’t care what I or anyone else thinks as long as he wins that belt in Miami. I am backing Dubois to be too strong and too quick for Bryan. I am going for a knockout win for the Brit in the seventh round.
Trevor Bryan v Daniel Dubois WBA Heavyweight Title Fight Odds, Tips & Predictions: Fighter's Predictions
Daniel Dubois: “I want to make a statement in devastating fashion. By any means necessary, but I’m looking to make a statement. This is an important fight. It’s a fight for my career and I’ve got to fight my heart out, go in there and do the best I can and more. I’ve changed things up. We’ve made the necessary changes, so I’m all systems ready to go. I’m going 100 per cent confident and ready to do my job. It’s going to be a totally different environment and I’m relishing that. I want to just soak it in. Camp’s going well, and now it’s just the final touches. We’re ready now – it’s just time for the trip.”
Trevor Bryan: “I fight like every fight is my last fight. I am going to give my heart, my soul and every inch, every bit of strength I have in this coming up fight on June 11 because, even with the heavyweights, this career doesn’t last long. Every opportunity I do get with names like Daniel Dubois and fighters after this, you want to fight your hardest and show everybody you have the heart and show everybody your skills are going to carry you along. So yeah, I am treating this like it is my last fight. Daniel Dubois is a strong fighter, he has fought some good guys, but I am on a different level. You saw that when he came up against some good opposition, he quit, gave up. You don’t quit, you don’t give up. I would rather go out on my shield. He is an okay guy, but he is going in against a nightmare, I will be a nightmare for him and not the fight that he wants. Maybe he should have gone back and tried to reverse the loss he had against Joe Joyce before he came to the champion. Now that he’s said he wants the champion, he begged for this fight and now he has it. He has it and now he has to pay for it. I’m not the type of fighter where you can step in the ring and think you can walk all over me. I am not heavyweight champ for no reason and on June 11 I’m going to show everybody that I am a name that you are supposed to respect. I am that man who is going to be sticking around for a long time in this sport. I am taking over, so on June 11 you guys are going to see what Trevor Bryan, The Dream, is all about.”
